Unusual $6 For 1 AdSense Click

In one of my site, I usually get between 20-25 cents per click, and it has been like that for the past 4 months. All of a sudden, I received a bit over $6 for one click on that site.

Do you get paid more when the person who clicked the ad makes a purchase?

No, you don't. I think you probably got a click for a very new advertiser unfamiliar with the content network. Occasionally you get a new advertiser trying to use the content network and they make a mistake setting up their ads or they use the same CPC they would use on the search network.

I'm not 100% about this but that's my best bet.

Google might be split testing the ads on your site, or if the site is old it might be giving you some "Google Love" along with high CPCs.

After Google sees consistent traffic to your site for several months at a time, it tends to give you a little higher payouts.

Of course, that's not proven, just what I've noticed in my sites.

This is also true but in this case I would guess it's a new advertiser. From 25 cents to 6 dollars is quite a large jump and I doubt if everyone else is paying 50 60 cents per click that one random guy is paying nearly 10 bucks.

I just love new advertisers, I have a site that averages less than ten cents a click (and only a couple of clicks a day) and then one day two weeks ago I got two clicks worth $9 each!.......what's even better is that this week I got a $19 click on the same site!.....that's the most I've ever made with a single adsense click to date!

I'm just using the standard URL channel. No channel on specific ads in the site.

I had a similar experience on my site Full Hypnosis. Usually it gets about 20p a click and then about a week ago it got a £5 click! I'd like to get a few more of them.

Dr faizan is right - adsense can pay a lot if the ad is
high paying. That's why lots of people still only
concentrate on "high paying adsense keywords",

According to those circulating lists the "highest paying" ads COST the advertiser something like $95/click. (Those are extreme cases, mind you)

If we take the recent published Adsense revenue sharing numbers we can assume that Google PAYS 68% of this....which would make the highest currently possible payout for adsense $64.

I have over 100 niche sites, but that one site alone usually gets about 1-2 impressions per day with 50%+ CTR average

I highly doubt anyone is paying $100 on the content network....for any niche.

It's okay... You just need a new layout probably. My highest CTR sites are ones that almost FORCE the customer to click the ad. Not because it's annoying and in their face, but it's well placed on the page.
