Let me start by apologizing for the beginner question, I just couldn't find the exact answer with a search. I am creating 5 different niche site for AdSense and affiliate revenue. I have website hosting for one site, but just domain names for the others. Can I just host the other website files for the other domains on my one site's hosting plan? Then just redirect the other domains to those files and mask the address. Or do I need to buy hosting for each individual domain for best SEO. Thus raising my cost from a few dollars/yr for a domain to over a hundred-dollars/yr for an entire hosting plan. If I didn't explain this correctly, below is an outline of what I mean. Hosting plan with site-1 vww.main.c0m Domain-2 vww.fish.c0m (masked and redirected to vww.main.com/fish/) Domain-3 vww.cat.c0m (masked and redirected to vww.main.com/cat/) etc. etc. Any advice on how to set up the lowest cost & efficient website network is appreciated. . . but please be nice. Thanks! |

Can't your hosting account support multiple domains? Have another look at what hsoting you have purchased - if it does only aloe a single ip then move to hostgator or someone similar that does support multiple domains on one account

You should add your additional domains from cpanel (if it's the control panel of your hosting) from Addon Domains category.

yes it does. So do I have the right idea on the framework here? Is there anything to avoid or double check when doing this? Or is this the standard MO? |

Also, when I view the page source of the homepage of the masked domain I only see the following and not the actual page source of the index.htm file. (note: I had to insert different characters into the links because I'm still new to the forum.) <html> <head> <title>masked-domain-name.c0m</title> <meta name="keywords" content="keywords, keywords, keywords"></head> <frameset rows="100%" scrolling="yes" border="0"> <frame src="h++p://wvw.main.c0m/site1/"><frame src="h++p://webhosting.yahoo.c0m/forward.html" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"> </frameset> </html> Will forwarding the domain this way hurt my page ranking in search engines? |

Put each site into its own directory and update the DNS of the domains accordingly, your webhost will help you. You should then do your keyword research and optimize your sites for the serps. Good luck to you. Kieron

When you mask a domain in this way there must be some SEO value lost, right? For example, my different pages extentions (main.c0m/page2.html) and the page titles dont shown up when on the masked site. Is there a better way to set this up and get to look/function like a normal website without having to spend $100+ on a completely new website hosting plan? Please help! |
