ok guys ive been doing some research on this but i cant seem to get no answer to my question, search engines cant read videos, but what about doc sharing sites ? like slide share and docstoc ? can they read the document ? im asking this because of the border they are in, and also the fact that when there is a hyper link in them it and you put your mouse over it, it wont show the destination on the taskbar. any input would be useful guys |

Perhaps this won't answer your question, but I've seen so many times that google showing pdf and doc search results. So I think so.

google has stated that they attempt to (and usually can) crawl flash content, pdfs, and other documents. just as they also claim they attempt to interpret javascript (to a point). doc sites rank very well. I do not doubt that they crawl, index, and rank the contents of some documents (when they can) However, they will comment on weather or not links within documents, flash, or javascript "pass page rank".thefore weather or not links in the documents hold any seo benifit seems to still be a mystery |

ok i that kinda clears things up a bit... i often see doc sharing site in the top every once in a while but the description is from the summery not the actual document. but the reason i was asking this was because ive seen the same article with different titles in different sharing sites rank very high, im not big on duplicate content, but can you upload the same doc to multiple sharing sites and have google index most of them under different titles ? |

man i upl,oad the same doc to many docsites with the same title and google usually indexes all of them on another note docstoc, slideshare, and scribd rank very very well. docstoc best for me, i have got docstoc on the front page with very little effort. i get good traffic from them too. all and all i have to say doc sites are a great tool for me |

I must admit I never thought about getting traffic with doc sites. That's why it's good to visit forums, you naturally stop thinking outside the box once when you have certain setup in place and running. |

i probably use about 25 also (dont have the list with me right now) if you have 2 or 3 articles you can mix it up but i would do like this. most of these sites (10 > )do not give a backlink on the document's page/description but a few of them do. so on the sites that do give a backlink on the document's page/description i would upload all of the documents so that you get seperate pages with backlinks on them. then on the rest of the sites just mix it around randomly also remember that almost every one of these sites gives a link in the profile so make sure you leave one there |
