Hi, As you may already know, Amazon manages a different associates programs for each country it has an online store on (e.g: US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, China, Japan and so on). In fact, you need to maintain a separated associates account for each local Amazon store in order to earn the maximum commission possible. If you redirect someone from the UK to Amazon.com and he prefers to buy from Amazon.co.uk you may lose your commission. In order to solve this problem, I've developed a prototype geo targeting engine, that knows how to route the end user to the nearest local Amazon store, and add your special Amazon id tag for that store. Do you think this kind of engine may increase your conversion rate ? Do you know of any other product that does that? |

I don't know the answers to your questions but I'm interested in hearing from techie-types with knowledge on this subject. I am presently searching for better conversion with Amazon, though it has increased in the past months, more is always better.

I think it will be great but the problem is that a lot of affiliates target products and not categories or the whole site itself. Products are rarely available on both stores so you have to be careful where you send them to. Google allows you to geo target content on a site so it is probably more useful to tailor different pages for different users. The idea is great but it will be all up to the excecution. |

I've written an article how to set up geolocation with PHP: goo.gl/npQPw To implement it, some rudimentary PHP knowledge should be sufficient. | |

I've implemented a solution that does not require any php nor plugins for your blog. All you have to do is put a JavaScript snippet to your pages just like google analytics. After that you define your ads in a service which is hosted on Google's cloud. For each of you ads, you specify what the ad should display in any given country. After you put a single line of HTML on your blog and the service will display the proper version (country) of the ad to the visitor automatically. The free service is called "localized ads service" (google it) and it supports any affiliate (amazon, ePN, etc) I'm using it on my blog right now, you have to try it to know how easy it is. Please contact me on "Mike Gleason Jr's Blog" for any help. I've done it for us |

I use a plug in that serves up the right Amazon products and my Amazon affiliate code according to my visitors location. It is easy and works great!

I was using the amazon link localizer, but have since stopped using it... as I've heard from other warriors that when they were testing it, it was bringing them to the wrong countries. My main site has around 90% visits from the states, and around 8% from Canada. So, I was targeting Canada... which only had around 30% of my products... and even then, there were 0% conversions. A Canadian on here told me that they prefer to buy offline.... So, I'm just going to target the states for now. |
