I've been reading a lot about people asking about article directories. I thought i would share my favorites and a little blurb why i like them. I use all of them and use them for different reasons.

eZineArticles and ArticlesBase. Both send a lot of direct traffic. In addition to this, eZineArticles has dofollow links. |

Ezine articles has seemed to outperform all the other article directories combined for me as far as generating traffic goes. However, I diversify my article directory submissions to also get back backlinks for ranking purposes. Hope this helps. |

I have a quick question on posting an article to multiple article sites. Doesn't Google dislike duplicate content? I've kept my article posting to one original article per site because of the above rule, but not sure how true it is. |

| Thanks for pointing this out,I forgot to clear this up. I am not submitting the same article. If I am writing about "cars," I'll either write a different article for each directory or I will spin my best article.

Your welcome! I've noticed a lot of my articles getting tons of traffic because of Rysite.com's twitter automation. Especially with my articles that have a more catchy title, the twitter followers seem to love it and I can see their referrals in my analytics.

Buzzle is my favorite if I'm looking to build PR and organic traffic to a page. My articles seem to attain a PR 2-3 there after only 3 months or so as opposed to a full year on Ezine.

EZA first, then GoArticles, which has instant automatic approval and allows up to 5 links within the body text.

EZA. The only EZA's drawback is it may takes 5-6 days before your articles get approved. About the others, I just don't have time to send my articles over to other directories, which makes me feels like I probably leave out some traffic on the table. |

As others have mentioned, I also like Articlebase, quick approval and backlinks tend to show up quickly as well. Thanks for pointing out Rysite, I just made a few submissions and will report my findings back. |

Just wanted to follow up, I submitted a bunch of articles today to Rysite.com. Articles were processed and published in a matter of 20 minutes with DoFollow backlinks. They also gave me some SEO pointers along the way to help make sure my articles had even more exposure. |

Ezine seems to be the only one I really see traffic from but I have not been using Buzzle and Article City for that long. Not sure of the SEO benefits. People who know me call me an impatient SOB, but I cannot understand why people worry so much about a few days or so it takes to get articles on Ezine... With a Platinum membership, they are usually up in about 24 hours. If you do not have one and would really like to get your articles up quickly, I would suggest applying with as a new writer. With my first membership, they never upgraded me even after about 40 articles. When I started a new membership, they gave it to me after the first ten articles even though I did not think they were that good. Seems to be at least partially the luck of the draw. |

I like Articlebase because they also approved my article instantly. HOwever, i have a question though. Is it a bad idea to submit the same article to another article site? what do you think?

Additionally, you might not have a choice when it comes down to a single article appearing on multiple directories. Lots of article directories either scrape or pull articles from other sites and post it on theirs. You might see some dups whether you did it or not.

| Don't worry about duplicate content. It is a myth. Google only penalize duplicate content across one site, not across the internet.

If you are mass submitting them, use some kind of automatic submission service. However, do it always manually to the more republe directories (EZN, articlebase, goarticles).

I like to submit them manually, it does take time but it assures me that it is done properly and that backlinks are built at my own pace. I think this appears more natural too, not to mention the fact that they are submitted to only the higher quality directories. No sense in autosubmitting to 1000 spammed to death directories. Remember diversity! Submit 100 spread out through all the directories in this thread, don't just submit 100 to one then 100 to another as it won't benefit you.

You are correct, I checked it again today and the author links all appear to be follow. I would swear though that last week I checked several articles and the author links were nofollow. I wonder if there are some articles poseted that are nofollow for some reason?

I primarily submit articles on EzinesArticles.com... occasionally on GoArticles.com. The keys to using articles submissions to promote your site and minimize the affects of duplicate content IMO are as follows: 1) Write a blog post or article for your own site. This should be a detailed discussion of whatever topic you're wanting to rank for. My blog posts are usually around 1500-2500 words for any given topic. Post this on your site. 2) Write from scratch a totally separate article to be submitted to ezinearticles.com about the same topic as the one your posted on your site. While this article may have the same basic outline (subsections) as the one on your site, do NOT even look at the post/article on your site when writing this second article. You want it to be totally unique. Make this article less detailed while covering the same topic. My submitted articles are typically 700-1200 words in length. Submit this article to ONLY one submission site. In the author bio box (where the links are actually followed) I link to the article on my site with something like "Learn more about <insert targeted keyword phrase> by visiting example.com." This will get click-thrus if the visitor wants more details on the topic which can only be found on your site. 3) If you want to submit to multiple submission sites then repeate step 2 above writing a totally unique article about the same topic for EACH site you plan to submit to. By following the above steps... you ensure that there is only ONE copy of the post/article that exists on your site. NEVER EVER submit the same post/article that you put on your site to an article submission site. By using a totally different (and less detailed) article for each submission site, that submitted article is not a duplicate of the one that exists on your site. Multiple sites may republish your submitted article, but who cares... The content they are duplicating is the content from the article submission site... not the content from your site.

I just read another post about EZA versus ArticleBase. This is another great discussion for me, a relative newbie, about article directories. I have only been posting to EZA but now realize that I need to submit to others as well. Thanks for the list of different article directories. - Rick |

Would everyone agree that from an SEO standpoint it's best to distribute your articles throughout many article directories?

Go Articles, Amazines, Article Snatch, Idea Marketers all work well for me, but you might see different results. I started by submitting articles to a bunch of different directories and waited to see who gave me the best results. I've since narrowed it down to 6 or 7 that I submit to on a regular basis.

goarticles.com for me is the best, followed by articledashboard. Goarticles have 24 hour turnaround, and you can have links in the content of the article as well as the resource section. Gets good traffic and have good PR. Articledashboard and articletrader are also pretty good as well. |
