Google Search Tricks for SEO

Hi,

Over the last few months I've come across some great tips and tricks for using google for SEO research and to find high PR sites for backlinking, so I thought I'd share....

1. To locate Squidoo lenses in your niche that allow links use this search in Google:
KEYPHRASE + site:squidoo.com + “0 points”


(KEYPHRASE being your target keyword term)

2. To find sites in your niche that have Comment Luv plugin installed use:
KEYPHRASE “title="CommentLuv Enabled””

CommentLuv is a wordpress plugin that automatically displays the commentator's last blog entry in his/her comment. Post useful comments on related blogs you are interested in and you should end up with some nice, deep, keyword rich permanent backlinks.

3. To see how many pages of your website are indexed in google use
site:www.yourdomain.com


Anyone know anymore good tricks?

"intitle:"keyword "inline:"keyword
this will give you sites with keywords on their titles and links.

This is handy for gaging the competition.

Here's a neat little one... info:yourdomain.com. It gives you several links to find out various bits of information about that domain.

Squidoo comments are nofollow.

Yes I realise this but I don't really care too much whether a blog or resource is a ‘follow’ or no follow resource. I like links from anywhere as it is always targeted to my market and also helps to make it look natural.

Google calculator:
Every operating system has calculator which is inbuild. Some times you feel lazy to open your inbuild calculator. This is a simple google search trick where you can do calculations by just entering what you required. This is simply amazing stuff accomplished by Google.
for example : open Google
type in google search as 100 + 500 - 100 = and press search button.

Use this query to find relevant forums with said keywords
inforum:keywords or forum:keywords in Google.

One tip for those of you searching the phrase "CommentLuv" or "KeywordLuv":

Don't click the link from Google's search results to go to the blog...enter the blog URL in a separate tab or window by typing it in.

There is a WordPress Plugin that detects if you came to the page through a google search with the phrase "CommentLuv" or "KeywordLuv" in it. It either blocks commenting for you altogehter, or you will be allowed to post a comment, only to find out that they will likely reject it regardless of how relevant it is.

If you use Google to find the blogs, then type the blog in directly, that plugin is not triggered and you'll have a better time getting your comment approved.

I'll go for do follow instead of no follow it really matters when quality backlinks are concern for page ranking.

Unfortunately, AFIK, there is no search mechanism that allows you to detect if a site has "dofollow" or not.

The quickest way to check is to get a plugin for Firefox, like SEOQuake, or NoDofollow, and set them to highlight NoFollow links.

Then use the search tactics listed in this thread, and when you visit the site you can quickly see if it is Dofollow or not.

Thanks. I am using quirk search status to check the nofollow. It highlights the nofollow links but we have to open the result page to check this. Since there is no search mechanism that allows to detect if a site has "dofollow" or not, this is a good way to do so.

Search string :8080 :3128 :80 will return 100's of proxy lists.
Filter results for the "last 24 hours" (Google advanced search) for fresh, working lists.

nofollow is actually being found by all major search engines so it doens't really matter if it's nofollow or dofollow. Backlinks are good either way.
