Hey if a ezine article is ranked in the top 10, can you rank another one with unique content, or will google stop this from happening?

Usually a single website cannot hold 2 separate ranking positions on the same single page of Googles SERPs, for the same keyword query. The best you can do is write 2 articles to place on the same site site, both optimized for the same keywords, and link them together (link A-B and link B-A) into a little wheel. Google will then often give you a double/idented listing, and although they'll assume the same position, they'll take more up valuable "eye space" in the search results and probably attract more clicks as a result. If you want a true double (or triple or more) listing for the same keywords, you'll need to submit separate articles to separate sites and backlink (if necessary) each of them independently. |

+1. I think that going for the double listing is your best bet.
