| IMHO - natural SE traffic is the best! You could pay for a aweet spot - but you'r income would not be as high as organic traffic - why? Well because you're using money to earn money? Organic traffic will ALWAYS be best IMO - I know there is a bunch of PPC-wiseguys somewhere, and they would not agree. But hey that's the way it works! Organic traffic ftw |

Natural had many advantages mainly because its free, but PPC can be handy if you learn how to do it properly. If you can afford it do both lol, if you get good at both you will be quids in ! Woc |

Clearly natural is free so that's one advantage but, if you do your backlinks properly, I find that it is more targetted, but then that's probably because I never really mastered writing PPC ads.

This is my direct experience: PPC converts better for me versus organic traffic. That would contradict what others have said here - why? Because I can choose very specific, lazer targeted keywords that I know are trageting people who are in the buying mood, not the tire kicking mood. That right there is the key to effective Adwords, choose high converting keywords NOT high traffic keywords. PPC is great to get you started while your site is maturing and while you are building natural / organic traffic. As you increase your organic traffic, by all means, start reducing your PPC spend. |

Though PPC is effective, there is no long term return for the expense. Results achieved through SEO remains for a long time.

Natural traffic is the best for sure!PPC is paid and it stops when you stop paying but natural traffic would go on and on and it's free too.

In my opinion both of the options are good . though SE traffic wins by one point I might Add that it depends on what you are selling and how optimised is your landing page. If you are selling a solution to a quick-fix OR a fast solution to a problem ,that means the buyer is desperate . hence google traffic from the first position will get you a lot of traffic and inturn sales. PPC traffic is for products which cant be ranked higher in google without a fair bit of work. Also once you start getting good sales from SE traffic you can eventually invest some money in PPc and test your results. if its scaling your sales stick to it. if it isnt just forget it. Always remember there is nothing specific and perfect in this IM world. Everything can be achieved by TESTING and analysing your methods and then tweaking it for the best results. Need some more help on this ? feel free to PM me. I would gladly help you out! |

| It doesn't matter which is best. You should be using both. More traffic equals more sales. You should be using multiple ways of getting traffic not just trying to pick the best of two methods. When I sold physical goods the best method brought around 20% of my sales. If I'd ignored all the other methods I'd have lost the other 80% of sales. Why do you only want to use one method?

| PPC will get you fast results SEO is more of a slow steady build Like the poster above said - a mix of 2 is ideal |

Its best to go for both. With Google changing alogorithms all the time, you really don't know where the site is going to be on the SERPs over a peroid of time. Best to have a backup plan if Google decides not to give you a lift for free. |

| Ha ha With one of my sites when I was starting out I worked entirely on SEO - getting to the first page of Google only to disappear to about page 40! The day I started PPC I made money from the same site! I wasted a year on SEO to just lose my placings because of Google These Days I do both to cover all bases |

If the ROI on your PPC traffic is positive then it makes sense. Also if you need immediate traffic then PPC makes sense since you can essentially buy your way to the top of page 1. It should at least be part of most online tactical (short-term) marketing strategy... and probably even part of your strategic (long-term) marketing strategy as well assuming the ROI is there. Organic/natural search traffic is more of a long term strategy for marketing a site and generating traffic. It is NOT free by any means. It requires more time to cultivate but should generally be part of any online marketing strategy. | |

In my view both the methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. Natural traffic is free but it takes time in building but PPC involve cost and optimized strategy. A good combination of both methods can do wonders.

I've found every niche to be different in terms of how well traffic converts. B2B seems to convert better with PPC. Here's my system: 1.) Start with PPC and enable conversion tracking to get some quick numbers on how each keyword converts. I initially don't worry about making it profitable because I look at it as a marketing test. 2.) Determine which keywords are converting on PPC. Raise bids on profitable keywords and lower or turn off unprofitable ones. 3.) Focus my SEO efforts on the keywords that converted during my PPC marketing test. 4.) Continue focusing your time (both SEO and PPC) on your best converting keywords. One other thought is that you have to put a value on your time. If you're paying yourself $100/hour and it takes you 40 hours and 6 months to get to the top of Google for one keyword, putting a few thousand dollars into PPC doesn't look so bad. |

| SEO is definitely better in my opinion if I had to choose. Most of the time I do both as I want to dominate Google in seo, ppc and maps.
