Hi guys, I have posted a free tutorial at my blog about using AwStats (the best free server side stats program) to improve SEO. You can read it by clicking on my signature if you care to. I am wondering everyone's opinion on server-side stats vs. google analytics and would like to see a debate from both sides.

I don't know that much about Awstats but one extremely important factor which I haven't found on it is bounce rate. Knowing the bounce rate for pages helps you improve visitor retention. You can optimize your content based on what visitors are looking for. |

AWStats is nothing special in my eyes, Google's offering is less appealing as most of the time the data provided is not entirely accurate. Google's results are often out of sync depending on which data centre the information is sent from. My personal favorite is a free service called StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats it excellent if you are doing any email marketing as it provides realtime results so you can split test you mailings and see straight away which mails are getting opened. |
