Default forwarding to new domain plus take some content

I want to forward all traffic from a blog to a new domain using .htacess to keep s much of the traffic as possible.

I want to republish word for word a few of the best articles from the old blog under the new blog domain name so it has content quickly.

Will that be seen (i.e visible to google) as duplicate content and therefore get my new blog off to a bad start ?

thanks

paul

As long as you are redirecting using 301 redirection, I believe Google doesn't treat them as separate pages but as just the new page, with the old page being permanently redirected to it, ergo no dupe content issues. I double-checked and read that at a site that explains how to do 301 redirections using htaccess, but I could be wrong as I don't have any experience doing what you are to know if there may be adverse effects.

I did exactly all the above you indicated, using a 301 redirect and i had no problem with google.

Like what they all said, 301 redirect is the best solution for your problem. This way google will see those two sites as one and eventually pass the PR to the newer website.
