Can anybody help me with my Squidoo lenes pls are they in the serps or not ?

Hi Guys,

Just a little help needed as i`m not sure if i`m doing something wrong with Squidoo,

When i first started IM i built a few squidoo lenses on `blushing` and to this day i get a sale about once a month on just this one lense so the other day i thought i`ll take a break from my adsense marketing and i`ll have a look though clickbank and pick a few products to try my hand on Squidoo with.

So i picked afew CB products did some simple keyword research and picked some keywords thaat i thought with the added ranking power of Squidoo i should be on the page 3 or somewhere close after i add just a few backlinks to them.

So i built afew lenses got them indexed added some profile backlinks and made sure that the backlinks are indexed too !!

But nothing !! the lenses are indexed but i cannot find the lenses in the serps anywhere i have searched in "" also but i just cannot find the lenses in the first 20 pages and the keywords are quite easy to rank for and when i look at the sites on say page 15 i cannot understand why my lenses isn`t in the top 20 pages let alone the fact i have some high quality backlinks pointing with anchor text !

Can anybody offer any advice as i feel i must be missing something can any Squidoo markers have a look at my lenses and see if they can find them in the serps and maaybe check inside my dashboard or something as i think i may of done something wrong.

The lens appears to be indexed, but we need to force it to
show up on it's own.

I did a search for: killer tips for jiu jitsu and your digg about the
lens comes up.

Doing a search for the lens url on google, the lens appears as a sub
result of #3.

I copied the first sentence from your lens. Did a search for that
and it came up #1.

Google seems to have a love/hate relationship with squidoo recently.
I have a #1 lens on yahoo, not indexed by google.

you should tweet the lens using the tweet button on the lens.

You have actually set up the lens quite well with the text modules.

You need to add a few others: amazon, your blog, newsfeeds, etc.

Add some more links to your site's pages as well and keep updating
frequently.

Hi Paul glad you stopped by when i posted this message i wondered if you would be around as i know your a squidoo expert !

So Paul after looking at the jiu jitsu lens ( the other lens url is in the post now which is the jumping program as i just noticed i posted the jiu jitus url twice) you can see nothing wrong other than google has just not taken a shine to my lens yet ?? I mean as far as you can see i`ve not made a mistake in my dashboard and set the settings wrong ?? or done any thing else stupid as i just find it difficult to grasp that i havent ranked anywhere for the lens !

Also can you explain what you wrote here `Add some more links to your site's pages as well and keep updating frequently.` By adding more links your talking about backlinks right ?? And what do you mean by keep updating frequently ? Do you mean keep updating the lens ?? Is this what successful squidoo marketers do keep coming back and adding more and more to there lens and not just building another lens ??

After a quick KW research of my own, just on what you chose, here's what I have for you:

"jiu jitsu techniques" is popular, with 8100 searches in the US, and over 22K globally per month (exact searches). However, there are over 1.6 million competing sites. Your competition's strength is low, which is good, but you will need approximately 97+ backlinks (indexed) - to end up on top.

"jumping program" has only 480 local (US) searches, with less than a thousand globally. Ouch. Not very good. Looking deeper, there are only 117,000 competing sites. Ok, that is awesome! BUT - the strength of those competing sites is VERY strong. Yikes! Although you should only need about 34 indexed backlinks to get on the front page, your competition has a lot of influence on this, and there aren't enough searches to put forth the effort (IMO).

Anyway, there's my input. Personally, I'd do a bit more KW research

May I ask what software you use for that? (KW, that is)

Thanks for the reply, the two squidoo lenes i built where just testers i just quickly checked to stats to see if i could rank on the first page easy i did not do the keyword research very deeply as i just wanted to get these pages online and see where i go from there !

So i just used GAWT and then firefox seo add-on to check the PR of the top ten sites i saw that in the top ten for each keyword there where PR- and PR 0 sites so the way i do my research is that if i every see a keyword with PR-/0 sites in the top ten i go for it anyway, Maybe thats not a great way of doing keyword research but i really dont care how many sites i`m up against i just care how strong the top ten sites are.

So when you say i will need 97+ backlinks to beat the top jiu jitsu sites exactly how did you work that out ? i mean do you think i need 97+ PR9 backlinks, PR5 backlinks or will 97 PR3 backlinks do it ? Just a bit confused how you worked that out.

So with the `jumping program` i agree its a little bit on the low side but you know what got me to build these lense is that i have a lense with about 500 global searches pm and it makes a sale every month of $29 so i just thought i`d build a few more of these lenes not worry about the search volume so much just play in the kiddie pool and try to get a sale a month, I see you say the jumping program will take 34 backlinks to hit page one and again could i ask you how strong you feel these backlinks need to be ?

And the original question was ... Why do you guys think these squidoo lenes arnt showing in the top 20 pages of google ?? any thougfhts on this ??

The more visitors your lens gets, obviously the more squidoo is
going to rank it.

You are missing a valuable piece of a squidoo lens.
The discovery tool. You get to this by editing the 2nd part
of your lens after the title. Forget the table of contents.
Squidoo thinks this is great, but just clutter the page. Use
the discovery tool to add your other lenses on this topic.
Just click on discovery tool, turn it on, and add the lens.
That is, add the jumping one. That way this lens link will
appear on this lens and other related lenses. Granted,
jumping is not totally related, but they don't have to be.
If you have 3 to add, the better! Oh, then do the same
to the jumping lens, add the jiu jitsu in the discovery tool.

Hi Paul,
Ok i`ll have a look at that but hey while your here any idea why my lenes are not showing in the first 20 pages of google even if i search with brackets ?? I have SEO`d the pages ok for the keywords and thrown some high PR profile links to them i feel sure i should be quite high searching in brackets what do you think ? Can you see the position of the lens as i cannot find them anywhere ?
