Hi, All warriours. I have created website www.buildyourownhovercraft.org and it got indexed in google very quickly. For the keyword 'build your own hovercraft' it is on second page. I got surpriesed when few days ago I see it at first page, first possiton! Wow... I got excited and congratulate himself that for my hard work. After second day I searched and... what happens it is back to it's possition, at second page. I got dissapointed but then I think that by default it might been shown on first page. I continued my hard work. But story does not ends here. Yesterday I again found my website at first page, first possiton for same keyword! and today... You guess rithtly. It is again on second page... You might be bored reading my long tail story. I can't understand what is happening. What you think about this story? Is there any solution? Pradeep |

This is normal and nothing to get upset about, as time goes by you'll see a more stable placement in the Google search results. SEO is a game of patience so don't try to rush things . . . |

Its your cache bro. happens when you visit your link and then make a search on google. Google now lists websites that you favor(for your eyes only). Clear your cookies and search.

It shows you on the second page (15th) when I search. Now here's the deal...if I click on your site (I didn't) and later go back and do the search again, Google is likely to put it in the #1 spot on my browser for that keyword or related keywords. Google applies a personalized search result where it serves up sites you go to as if it is doing you a favor. That's why searching for your site using your own browser will give you contaminated results. Try using a proxy such as HideMyAss (.com) or equiv to see how your site ranks for the general population. ~Bill |

You are on page 2, #16 for me. It is going to be just a bit different for everyone. If you remain patient and focus on that one keyword through an extensive linking campaign things will start to even out. What type of SEO backlinking projects are you working on? That is where you are going to get your positioning... |

Usually for a new site you will jump quickly to the top of the SERPs for a day or two (I suspect because Google thinks the new site might be newsworthy). After that its perfectly normal to jiggle around for a week or two until Google determines your "true" SERPS position.

I tell folks this all the time. When you are doing a manual Google Search, use the Google Chrome Incognito browser. Otherwise your getting your personal search history mixed in with what you see in Google SERPs. Incognito will solve this issue. Also the OP link, it took me 4 pages to get to the CB order page, If I was looking to buy plans to build my own hover craft, I would have left your site by the time I reached the third page & still couldn't place an order. Why so many clicks? |

Bill thanks for HideMyAss (.com), have you used others too? With Googles complicated formula not disclosed, makes you wonder if a bunch of us looked for his site and did click the link, would it boost him up? Might be a good thing to test. (then someone will sell it as the next "shiny squirrel") |

You have to be careful too because if you keep visiting you will get a false positive as Google thinks you like the site so it will push it up in your search but not in the overall system. New sites bounce all over the place till they find their spot then the real work begins. Q |

Like others have said, if you keep visiting your site google will even put it to the top of page 1. Your site will also bounce around in anything up to the first 10 pages for around 3-6 months before settling down (on average). The best thing you can do is keep consistently building good quality links. Yves |

Turn off your web history. Google has put in place a web history feature to help give more relevant results. Its like TIVO for a search engine. It is located in the top right corner. If this is not enabled you will have false positives.

I didn't know that Google used the history to bump up some of the results. Glad I stumbled in on this thread.
