Default Any differences when using 1st/first, 2nd/second, etc?

Hi all,

I was looking into a niche where some users use the word "first", and some use the abbreviation "1st". When I plug in the searches I find the following:

- When I enter the keywords into google, I get different results for the Top 10. The top result however is the same on both searches (wikipedia page).
- Google seems to recognize "1st" as "first" and vice versa (i.e. it bolds the word when displaying the search results)
- Google Adwords keyword tool has slightly less searches performed using "1st" when compared to "first"
- Using allintitle I am finding less competition using the "1st" keyword over the "first" keyword.

With that being said, what would be the best approach to be properly optimized for Google? Should I title my posts so that both "First" and "1st" are displayed in the title, or would it be best to use the word "first" in the post title, and use "1st" in the post content?

Hope I make sense, thank you!
