I have an existing domain that's static HTML. I'm looking to add a WP blog to add future content, what do you guys think is the best format - www.blog.mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com/blog Is there any benefits either way or doesn't it really matter? Thanks |

I would personally go with yourdomain.com/blog, so that any links to your blog also benefit your mail domain. But don't forget that you could also put your blog in the root of your domain. Wordpress will happily coexist with a static site. When a users goes to a static page, that will be served, but when no static page exists at a particular URL, Wordpress will serve the page. |

Thanks for your tips. I didn't think of putting it on the root of the domain, what would take precedence for the index page? i.e mydomain.com Would the static page show or the blog? |

I would personally go for wp.domain format That way, the wordpress becomes a complete part of your subdomain. Just like forums.digitalpoint. Google does it too. |

Having a subdomain is like starting a new site and your link juice will not flow through your site unless the structure is domain.com/blog if im not mistaken |

I don't know if some one really can tell which one is the best. I think both are equal. But mostly people prefer the way 'blog.yoursite.com'.
