I want to buy an existing website without having any effect on the SEO. The domain is aged, the website has a few hundred pages indexed, and a solid PR3 with 500 backlinks. Should I negotiate keeping the same hosting & domain accounts? What are the effects of switching to new accounts... Please tell your experiences below |

According to my experience, you MUST avoid changing the domain account and changing the content/structure of the site. If you are able to keep them, there is a high probability that the age, ranking, traffic, etc will stay the same, since Google would not notice the transfer. | |

I recently changed hosting for a site and all the rankings remained unchanged. It's not a big deal, if you have quality on-page SEO, content and quality backlinks. That's a pretty stable foundation and one thing, like changing hosts, won't make much difference. Cheers, Josip |

If it were me I would only change the domain info at first and keep the current hosting plan if you can for awhile.

The only real concern here is the IP, which Google references it's parameters upon. You should be fine, though. Just make sure your new hosting plan is on a dedicated IP, and not a shared plan. Best, Josh |
