Sticky posts on homepage or let them change? (wp-based site)

What is good for seo - keeping few posts sticky for a while or let them get changed as you keep posting new ones.

I had left homepage without sticky posts but then the problem is google cache never matches with current homepage and also google gives my homepage as target page for keywords while it should actually be the post (internal page).

How do I make internal pages rank and not the homepage with excerpts for keywords?

It doesn't matter very much from the SEO point of view. Backlinks are vastly more important. Decide whether or not you want stickies based on what is best for your users.

Create the right keyword-based categories for them and build backlinks to those pages individually (deep linking). Including links permanent from the home page to your most important articles also helps.

Stickies will not affect your SEO assuming you have good internal linking on your site. Make sure your posts are easily accessible in your sidebar via categories/recent posts etc and you'll be fine.

I rarely don't use sticky posts. The only time in my opinion you shouldn't use sticky posts is if it's a TRUE BLOG...Like a journal style informational type site, a site where your visitors WANT new content. Otherwise you should best monetize your site with sticky posts to help increase conversions.
