I posted this thread a while ago over in the Main Discussion forum but I feel it belongs here so I moved it. Here's the SUPER SIMPLE traffic tip. I've been testing this out on a couple of websites, and it's certainly brought in about 25% more traffic since I implemented this on my sites. What is it that's been bringing so much more traffic? A Q&A PAGE! aka... FAQs I was doing a search looking for what I needed to patch a hole in my canoe... And what popped up was some Q&A pages from different canoe stores in the area...no google maps or anything like that. I realized that a lot of people these days type in questions to find what their looking for, rather than just a couple general keywords. . I also caught myself doing a search for a problem which is probably pretty common. Internet Explorer wouldn't open but Firefox would. I started typing the previous sentence into google and it started popping up with long tail options, took the words right out of my mouth. Why did google give me that suggestion? Because people are asking that question and similar phrases, very long tail. Go to google and start typing in a question to a problem people may have. Google will predict what you're going to type and give you potential options, all are VERY long tail. Grab Google's suggestions and throw it into the keyword search tool and take a look at the traffic, some may be slim but so is the competition! So in a weight loss niche, dedicate a whole page to Q&A's related to it.
**This also helps give your website some internal linking points, and maybe a nice affiliate link to some antivirus software or backup package ![]() I literally have been getting about 10% more traffic to one particular niche site of mine by adding a Q&A page. Mix some long tail keyword research into this page and achieve pretty good results...with next to no REAL effort. So I hope this little tip really helps! It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to implement this on your blogs and gain some valuable targeted traffic. |

great tip. thanks a lot. now i know where to post small info tips which can't make an article of 300 words still quite relevant to niche. I have one question though. Do you post each question and answer on seperate post or all questions and answers in a single page/post? |

I've just had a FAQ page set up, I'm yet to add any questions and answers though. You have insiped me to get started and reinforced that keyword rich q&a will get more traffic (and hopefully conversions). Thanks!

That's a great idea. I 've actually been putting frequently asked questions on all of my websites for a while now because of this. It makes perfect sense. Google AdWords Keyword Tool is quite helpful in determining exactly what questions people are asking, hint hint!

you can also use WP Yahoo Answer plugin for Wordpress. This plugin will post question and answer based on keyword you choose to your blog automatically.

Something to bear in mind is that the options that appear to complete the phrase are likely to be somewhat personalized based on your search history. BigFish47, when I type in "can I", nothing relating to dogs, pregnancy or anything like that comes up. Who else uses your computer? ![]() Be sure to cross refer with the Google keyword tool to make sure that the phrase you are looking for gets some "exact match" searches. |

Very good tip, I probably could do one of those on a few of my websites. Every so often you do get long tail KW questions showing up on your google analytics too.

You can generally get a ton of traffic from the "question" type of keywords as they're probably searched exponentially more than a bunch of keywords. Great tip, also it can keep you under the Google radar for keyword stuffing and bridge page-ing =)

| Hey PtPatil - I am sure you know this already, so I'll just say it for anyone else who might read this thread - I would be careful with keyword stuffing - it was a tactic regularly used a while ago, and it's now really looked down upon. Keywords / keyword phrases should be kept down around 2% keyword density per page... that way (by the time you factor in all your image tags, alt tags, etc etc etc) you're not over 3%...

| I noticed that a little while ago...didn't really give it a shot though because I wasn't sure what the keyword/idea actually was...the titles they suggested were a little bit grammaticly wacko

DUDE- awesome tip! It gives you a chance to rank for some long-tails that can be hard to dedicate whole articles to. I mean phrases like "why wont my dog stop peeing on my leg" can be tough to repeat multiple times in an article :-p |

Here's a good strategy for building out your FAQ page. Works great. Check out Yahoo Answers for questions on your subject. When you find them take the question and put it on your FAQ page and write an in depth response. Then go back to Yahoo and answer the question. Give a quick summary of the answer and then link to your FAQ page with the more in depth answer. You will get traffic from the Yahoo Answer page and then you should ultimately start getting traffic from the engines for the long tail. |

This is one of those things that you could hit from a dozen directions. Another source for ideas, look at forums related to your own niche/site. Plenty of ways to find out what people are looking for & the ?'s they have. Just copy the ?'s, add to your faq & answer on your own page. Don't forget to internal link to your relevant pages, with keyword anchor-text. | |
