Arrow AdWords CPC vs. AdSense EPC

Is there a good rule of thumb to get an idea of how much I will get per click on my adsense sites relative to how much is being paid in adwords per click on certain keywords?

Lets say I know a keyword costs roughly $2.00 per click in adwords.. What could I be looking at earning per click for that same keyword in adsense?

Thanks,

Seth

Google just announced several weeks ago that they share 68% of the bid with its content publishers. I think thats one way to determine the money potential of a keyword, but you have to realize that by saying that an advertisement is worth on average $2.00 is just that... an average. That could mean that some people have paid $4 and others have paid $.50 in the past.

As always, just my $.02...

The bid price on adwords is not the bid price on the content network. Usually the content network is a lower CPC.

All you can do is take high priced keywords on adwords as an indication that its worth going for. Also the variance between what top and bottom of the list are paying plays a big factor on how much you make.

Generally the content network prices are lower compared to the adwords prices, it is always better to go for a extremely priced keyword.

I think it's a good idea, many people does this and even gains more through adsense to what they have paid to adwords. Typically, highly qualified traffic crashes AdSense clicks more, depending on the content and placement of the AdSense block. I managed to got good CTR on content sites.

Hi there srhudson ,

as somebody mentioned before it is supposedly 68%, but that will not help you much with your "problem".

I would advise you not to look at the prices too much ( of course you must target high CPC keywords ) BUT, you will most likely have more adds displayed on your site. If you use a site like Hubpages.com you will have 15-20 adds displayed ; from 0.05c to 1.5$ per click.

Once you get a "track record" lets say 1000 or 5000 visits, you will be able to tell what the avg CTR and the avg CPC of your sites adds.

The latter is also not confirmed to last a very long time, due to the fact that advertisers constantly change.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely, Buyseech

Does anyone have a good way to track this in Google Analytics? I'm racking my brain trying to figure out a good way to track earnings (Adsense) versus cost (Adwords)
