Reversing bad link buildings or is it too late

This question just popped on my head.

Let's say 6 months ago I started doing backlinking through whitehat methods and 5 months later I couldn't wait to see result and I wanted to do things bit faster, I took black hat link building and then I realized well this may not be good for long term and google would find out eventually and I wanted to clear the black hat linking methods but how am I going to accomplish this?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as the behavior wasn't something on your website, i.e. something that you undeniably had control over, it probably won't hurt anything. Google WILL punish you for things that you do to your website but stuff that a third party person may do, i.e. spam links, they typically do nothing about because you could be framed. If all a person had to do was spam links to get their site rank nuked, people's competition would be pwning them all of the time. Hope this makes sense.
