Why bother making hubpages and squidoo pages for? What is the point of making these extra pages and sites for? Well obviously it seems to be for SEO. Make these pages, theses pages will rank well (why?) then have links pointing back to your main website. This seems a little bit backwards to me. I mean why go to all that extra effort making these other websites that are all about what you want to do any way. I mean that means you will now not only have to make you main website, but plus you will have to make one for hubpages, or for squidoo and any others. So you'r going to have to make 2,3 or more webpages just to get the main one to rank right? But what if the squidoo pages and hubpages rank higher than your main website? Are you not then competing with yourself??? ( Is this a dumb question?). So now you will have you main website + a hub pages site + a squidoo site all trying to rank for the same thing. This seems to me like making a big headache for yourself? Can someone shed some light on the idea behind this SEO process. Peter |

Peter I usually use a web 2.0 property as a "shield" for backlinking purposes when I have a new website. Instead of throwing hundreds of links at my website and potentially getting it sandboxed or raising a red flag with google, I create 3 to 5 web 2.0 properties and hammer those with backlinks. The "linkjuice" is passed to my new site through the web 2.0 properties. This method is particularly useful if using automated backlink services, se nuke or profile links en masse. Regards Nigel |

With enough different websites mentioning your product you can saturation bomb your competitors out of the frame. You can NEVER have too many pages with your products on.

You bother with squidoo and hub because they can be traffic magnets. Yes, many are in the top of the SERPs. It depends on what you are searching for, as always. Many squidoos are geared for what the masses are searching for. Not necessarily what internet marketers/SEO people use as examples when searching. Remember that most searches are for current celebrities or people, and current events. Paul |

That's genius I never thought of it that way before.....is there a major difference in the power of the backlinks when you pass the juice to the site vs direct linking to the site from the backlinks? | |

Hi Peter, Why do we build web pages in the first place? Is it not for exposure? One great reason to build pages on other websites like Squidoo or Hubpages is the extra exposure you get from the community that you become a part of. Additionally, search engines do not look at your web pages simply as part of a website, they look at it as part of a web that can span many websites. Your Web 2.0 pages are part of your web and it's your web, not just your website, that influences the search engines. By spreading the pages of your web across many websites and communities you gain valuable exposure. Exposure, that is the point after all, isn't it? |

I didn’t understand what’s the problem with having your squidoo and hubpage and your website on the same keywords, even if they get competitive…the traffic still gets to you and with as many pages you have on the same keyword on the first page on search engines the more you earn more traffic on that certain keyword… You could have the whole first page in google only with your websites…what’s the problem there…and you can direct that traffic through links (for which of course u use anchor text) to the main website… also these properties like squidoo and hubpage that send you traffic directly help you in seo as well (I mean for your main website) So…stop wondering too much and do as many as possible and send the traffic to your main website or monetize them directly with clickbank products, or from ebay, amazon, cpa… |

Why bother with squidoo and hubpage? Its definitely for driving traffic and seo ranking to your site. It has really worked for me.

Squidoo and Hubpages are very easy for you to get those longtail keywords ranked pretty well.

Long tail keywords, exactly. For me, I can take a small part of a wine area and make a part of the education section of my website which ends up on the first page...then a Hubpage can do the same and only takes 30 minutes of work to reword what I have on my site since it doesn't have to be as extensive. Hubpages are especially good links as well.
