Hello guys,

I hope you are familiar with Google's Geo targeting feature. Have you ever tried it with any of your websites? I don't really know whether this can show some effect on our visitors. But..

My blog was getting an equal amount of Indian and Us traffic. So as for a test purpose I changed the geo targeting to US and the visitor ratio increased from US. (I'm not sure whether its completely because of this Google option). Have you ever tried the tool? Will it really work?

Are u talking about Adwords geo targeting or the Google Places???

I'm based in theUK and so is my hosting. I have a number of minisites that target US markets. I used this setting in GWT and sure enough my rankings are higher for US searches (checked via proxies) and most visitors are US based. It definitely works for me!

Just curious... how do you guys test out results in areas outside of where you are doing SEO testing from. For instance, I am unable to get accurate local or organic results for my wife's massage business located in West Hartford, CT 06117, when I am testing from our home office in West Hartford, CT 06119. Is there any way to view accurate results for areas outside of your own? How do professional SEO companies test outside of their area with geo-targeting playing such a major role in seo these days?

I am particularly interested in the Local 7-pack results which do not show when using Googles Ad Targeting Preview Tool: adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool
