Hello Warriors, I started using adsense in year 2003. It has been an eventful journey since then. Here on the forum I keep on reading people's comment with many still trying to make their first buck online. I thought to share a guide out of my experience. 1. Consider online marketing as a regular Brick & Mortar business. You don't make money overnight (unless you won a lottery). It takes some labor and some investment. Don’t think that by purchasing a product or a course or reading a thread you will become Guru and will make a killing in online marketing. Key is putting the effort. Try. Refine. Put more efforts. 2. Now let's talk about how to make sites that gets some traffic. I am a big follower of building huge many number of sites, promote them for some time see which are easily ranking. Then scale up these sites big time. At the same time continue increasing your arsenal of sites. 3. Pick up a proper niche around which you will make your site. Niche needs to be very specific. You should not select Home Loan as niche. Instead niche can be Low Income Home Loan. I keep three factors in mind while researching a niche. A> In Google Keyword suggestion tool there should be enough number of people searching for that niche (that number you can decide) B> Search for that keyword in google and there should not be huge competition. Also in first page there should be sites similar to what you are planning to build. That is say you pick a keyword 'Home Loan' In search results you will see all mega corporations ranking on first page. I don’t even try to compete with them. However if for my niche in top 10 an article from ezinearticle is ranking, a blog post from an unknown blog is ranking, that is a good niche. C> Most important is availability of .com or.net or.org with exact keywords. That ios if you selected niche as Low Income Home Plan, if domain name LowIncomeHomePlan.com or LowIncomeHomePlan.net or LowIncomeHomePlan.org is available only then proceed else pick a different niche. Believe me there are still thousands of good keyword domain name available. With economy meltdown many domain collectors haven't renewed their millions of domains. 4. Now build a website. Easiest is to build a wordpress site. Make sure you configure WP so that your site has SE friendly URLs. 5. Once domain is finalized, do some keyword research based on your niche. Write articles around these keywords. May be write 10-20 articles. 6. Now you got a proper researched niche, domain, site and content time is to do link building. Get some links through article marketing, social bookmarking, directory submission etc. 7. Wait and watch for a month. If it earns some money say greater than $5, it got potential. If it is less than $5 let it be dormant. If it is > $10 it is time to be bullish. Add more content and do more link building on this site. Also with few sites it may happen that they grow up to say $50 a month real quick but then after that it is impossible to grow up. You will need to know when to throw the towel on a specific site. That is why it is important to have many sites going on at the same time. 8. Keep on adding more and more site on daily basis. Rinse repeat. I personally can make at least one site like this on daily basis. Also once you are comfortable you can outsource some of the job. Dont worry if you dont make enough for a beach vacation first year. Keep your target set for long run. 9. In a year time you will have 50 sites making at least $30 a month and a few making at least $300-400 a month. 10. You can use dormant sites for linking back to your bigger money making sites. Just ensure that you are linking relevant niche sites and following all known link building principles. |

I'd say your expectations are a little on the low side. I can make sites that make $50-100 a month each like clockwork...but yes your plan sounds good. Keep building unique content and when you got one site packed full of it, then move on to the next one.

It is always better to expect the least. I got many sites that make me four figure each month, but still even right now I am very conservative in planning and estimating the revenue.

"10. You can use dormant sites for linking back to your bigger money making sites. Just ensure that you are linking relevant niche sites and following all known link building principles." - That can cause a possible de-index.

Not really. Instead of purchasing backlinks from outside it is always better to have your own sites giving links to you. Just make sure do not spam. You dont control outside sites but you have full control your own sites. |

I would agree on your advice. However, it also depends upon what subject you choose. Their are certain subjects that do not do well in Adsense. For example, I have a dog site that only does pennies on Adsense. But, a motor scooter site is better.

When you use your dormant sites to link to your main sites are they on the same IP address? I'm guessing google doesn't mind linking between sites as long as their relevant to each other but I'm just curious if in this scenario they often have the same IP address.

| No. This has been proven wrong time and time again. gasbuddy.com, techcrunch, etc. There are tons of sites that interlink, just keep it relevant like he said.

Thanks for posting your strategy Nitin, some really good tips here. The only thing that concerns me is that there are a vast number of sites springing up with "long keyword" domain names such as "lowincomehomeloans.org" Many of these sites are very poor quality content, they are obviously just built to game adsense... and I think that sooner or later Google will want to shift their algorithm to get them out of the index. I think the main thing is to make the content valuable, and to develop the winners into high quality sites. |

Yes. You are right. That is why I think key is having unique good quality content. Do not go for PLR, or rewritten or stolen content. As long as you have good unique content, it wont matter if your site has ten pages or hundred pages. Quote:

Hi, I am new to this forum. I just came across this thread and I am impressed by this 10 steps strategy. For me, it will take some time implementing it for first time. But I hope it will help for longer run. Thanks. |

That's a nice little plan you have there. You could also do a similar plan but use Amazon affiliate products to do the monetization instead of adsense Kenj |

Let me tell you something about searches. Most people preach the 1000 searches minimum....and you know why because they just copy whatever everyone else says without ever testing anything themselves. I target plenty of searches that are only getting 50-200 searches and they make me decent money! And when you add them all up? Well you get the point. |

Ernie everyone has different methodology. If someone works different than you it doesnt mean that one is just copying without ever testing anything. Regarding you working with terms getting 50 searches a month building a website around them and getting 10 visitors a month - If it works for you well, carry on with that. Quote:

![]() You can't deny that a lot of people - newbies would be the larger group of people.....they just spew out what ever they hear on a forum and preach it like it's set in stone. Hell I use to do the same. | |

| BTW if you are making good with 100-200 searches keyword list, try with list of keywords searches >1 K (of course provided it meets all other criteria). May be now that you have gotten the niche of making successful site, you will make more with higher number of searches per month. |
