Which url to optimise for will be easiest for results?

Guys,

Quick one for you:

My main domain is position 18 for "facilities engineer jobs" however I have a landing page which has "engineer" in the rest of the url www.mysitejobs/engineer+jobs this page is at postion 56 with no backlinks to it.

Which do you think would be easist to get to position 1? If both were optimised for facilities engineer jobs?

Since the main URL is already ranked at #18, you should be able to get it to #1 quicker than the sub-page. The extra keyword in the subpage URL is not going to make that big of a difference.

880 exact match searches per month.. Well it's something at least..

I think it will rank pretty quick.. AND... High..

Agreed. Linking inner pages with your main page will help those pages to rank and be crawled.
