Hi, I've got a question about google webmasters tools url removal tool. Everytime I stick into removal request window url ending with: '?page=2&sort=newest' it shows in the pending requests section: '?page=2&sort=newest'. For some reason it's 'adding' this & paramter. Is it something wrong with it, or it's a normal behaviour? Many thanks in advance J |

There's an encoding issue at some point. & is the HTML encoding for & Does the URL actually get removed? It may only be an issue with the pending list displaying it wrong. |

No, the URL is not removed. It removes only the modified, non-existent url with '&'. you can see it in the removed section with this parameter, and the pages with original urls are still in google index. For me it looks like a major bug in google webmasters tools. It costs me a lot of money, as my site is being constantly penalized and is virtually non-existent in google results. someone told me that since introducing 'new' webmasters tools, removing urls with '&' is impossible. Google is checking the 'wrong' address and is blocking indexation of the address that never existed. The correct change should be & - > & but only inserting to HTML. Now it's & - > & in adding and & -. & in HTML So there is a major prolblem there in my opinion and someone should address it asap. Or maybe it's on purpose to penalize some people? I don't really know what might be the reason of penalizing someone like me, but if that's the case I'd like to know. Regards JJ | |

How are you being penalised by Google indexing your website? Are you sure your focusing on the real problem? How about some other possible solutions to removing those pages from their index:
All these will eventually get Google to update their index |
