Default Value of in-content links?

Gents, who of you noticed that recently Google starts appreciating in-content links more than standard links?

(In-content links are the links integrated in a text of webpage, with an anchors taken from the text fragment).

I am not only talking about external links, but also about internal in-content links, pointing from one page to another page of the same website.

Any observations on this from your side?

I wouldn't say that this is any more so that it ever really was. Quality external links would however still hold more weight than the internals.

That's very interesting Derek. Would you care to explain why?

I would even phrase your question as "...to explain what did you want to say exactely by this?"

888.com did not get to number one on google.co.uk for "online poker" and "online casino" because of external links

888.com (based in Israel) has probably one of the strongest SEO departments in the world. The calibre of people they employ, at least in the upper management of the SEO dept is equivalent to Google (PhD's in Information retrieval etc).
They're a white hat outfit, as they have to be being a public limited company, but from what i hear they do some incredible stuff, they have their own indexing tool etc.
