| What are some ways 'that work' to get the most SEO mileage out of Squidoo, HubPages, or some other similar website?Would you use both? You see various ways to utilize those sites, but I would like to spend as little time as practical, as time for me these days is increasingly shrinking. Thanks. |

If your time is limited I would abandon both of them and focus on more effective methods like building a list, a community, and a twitter following.

Thanks for your reply, Nick. Q: If one venue were to be chosen over the other even for limited available time, which one, Squidoo or HubPages, would be the one to try first or does it matter? Thanks. |

If you are dead set on using one of those platforms in order to make money online, then you need to laser focus all your efforts on one of them. I would use Hubpages personally, simply because I like their user interface more than Squidoo. But as far as SEO I think Squidoo is a PR8 while Hubpages is a PR6. Your content will be indexed quicker with Squidoo, but they have a lot more limitations on topics you can write content for. If you want to make decent money, you are going to need to produce a TON of unique content for whatever site you chose and get it ranked high in the search engine results. When I say a TON, I mean a TON! I wouldn't expect any decent income from them unless I had 600+ pages or more of unique keyword targeted articles posted to them. You're going to be fattening their pockets a lot with their revenue splitting models, and you are putting your income in the hands of people whom you don't know, and who at anytime could change their business model or policies and leave you hung high and dry, with nothing at all to show for their work. Pick a very broad niche that you are passionate about so you won't have problems writing content for them. Get backlinks from the various sources to rank higher, and write, write, write ![]() For the amount of work its going to take to earn from them, you'd make a lot more money writing unique articles for other Warriors here. You'd be better still by writing articles to drive traffic to affiliate offers. You'd make even more money by creating your own blog and publishing high quality unique content to it and earning from Adsense and affiliate offers. You'd be best by writing articles to drive traffic to build your own list and then offer them affiliate offers and your own products. |

If you can only use one... I would pick Squidoo. That's a personal preference because it is easy to use, and also less of a pain in the ass than HubPages when it comes to what you can/can't put on your pages etc. |

Thanks GR Marketing and JayXtreme. 600 articles, GR Marketing? Boy oh boy - that is way more time than I have or can do in the foreseeable future. Wow - I had no idea it was that intense. Over the years when I did briefly consider writing articles because of the hype I read on the Web regarding SEO, nowhere did it even come close to stating just how much effort was involved, so I truly thank you for this info. I see you both picked Squidoo for the same reason even though GR Marketing preferred HubPages overall. Quote:

I'm the other way - I think Hubpages is much better than Squidoo. The Hubpages development staff are very good at knowing what Google likes. Hubpages is much easier for a new writer to get good ranking Hubs. To prove it I took my new Squidoo lens (0 visits in 3 months) off Squidoo and put it on Hubpages (100 visits so far). The Adsense CTR % on some of my Hubs is very high indeed - I could tell you guys my CTR but you wouldn't believe me. The best thing to do on Hubpages is to write at least 10 Hubs in the same niche, then link all your pages together so you sort of own that niche on there. |

Thanks for that info brettb. I've seen on various platforms that some do better with social topics while others fare better with technical topics including tips, even though all types of information is created on them and due to the size of their audience / participants. With HubPages, do you think it matters whereby either would in essence, get equal weight as far as a boost in readership and ultimately SEO ranking? Thanks again. |

UPDATE: Hello and again, thanks all for your feedback. Although I may try both Squidoo and Hub Pages at some point, I'll probably start with Hub Pages then Squidoo when I have an article I want to write. Q: Should EzineArticles and GoArticles be considered, also? ![]() I do plan to focus on building a social network sometime in the future as I find more time to spend working with it. Thanks. |

Squidoo and Hubpages are good choices of getting niche backlinks.
