Post Someone Please Explain Social Bookmarking

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Warrior forum because I finally made the leap to participate instead of sitting on the sidelines. With that said, I need to pick your brains...

Question: Making a transition from PPC to SEO. I hear a lot about social bookmarking and getting backlinks. Can you explain the basics to me. Do I create an article for a web 2.0 page, lets say hubpage, and then what? Help a brother out and give me the 411. Thanks in advanced.

Not sure what the 411 is but social bookmarking consists of placing your personal "favorites" links on another website. Using your example for instance, after you create your hubpage you would then submit the url of your Hub to sites like Reddit, and I would also recommend you submit your Hub to story submits sites like Digg.

There are a ton of social bookmarking sites that have good pagerank, just do some research.

Good luck

I look at it as giving your link its spot on the web. There are many bookmarking websites that will give your website a little juice to help you get your link building started. Social bookmarking alone will not make you rank high though.

Try out Socialmarker.com for a good list and and automated submission to make your job easier.

The social bookmarking site is probably the most important thing I learned today. Got right on with hope and crossing my fingers it will work where I failed so much before.

It is an old saying that doesn't seem to be in use too much any more as best as I can tell.

Well, jay there are many social bookmarking sites of high PR and what we have to do is simply register to all the sites and submit the story which is relevant. The main benefit of social bookmarking is to rank keywords that are above 50 or so.

It is one of the best process in off page optimization and is very necessary.

When you say above 50 or so, what do you mean?

social book marking is like adding a site to your IE or firefox favorites list because you like what it provides. With SMB your sharing it with a website (digg.com) and also its members to get backlinks and authority.

In social bookmarking websites, users create and store bookmarks of their choice. These bookmarks can be viewed by others and that let them know about new services and latest concepts which are making news in the online world.

Social bookmark is the site where you can submit a URL of story which is submitted on any article site or in any press releas sites and you can put your link in between the body of article.

In social bookmark site you can not submit your site directly. for example digg.

Just an FYI, Social bookmarks are great for helping other types of link get indexed. As they themselves do not hold a lot of power

So basically like twitter. Great indexer but not a lot of power.

I can see where traffic would come from these bookmarks but not backlinks. Baclinks come from placing your bookmarks on these sites? So If I have an article on my site and if I want a backlink, I bookmark it to one of these bookmarking social sites and I get a backlink?

If you're asking for story submit sites, the ones I use to establish my assets are Digg, Propeller, Yahoo Buzz, Kirtsy, and post at Sodahead with their create blog function.

Yep. I use Onlywire to social bookmark my story submits. It's integral to the system I've create to rank my assets.
