so i was wondering why we were working so hard on promotion and not going anywhere and more why google had not crawled my site in almost two weeks even though i saw the spider there numerous times. i went to google webmasters i almost never go here. i told it to fetch as googlebot, it told me the site is unreachable... edit: My host found what might have been the problem. They called it "brute force detection software." so they whitelisted the IP. I'm still talking to them about what this might have been. Never mind--sorry about this, thought it was more of an SEO issue. Edit: Here's what happened. Google had begun crawling the site much more often and the host's software interpreted it as a hacking attempt and blocked the IPs. I just spoke with them and they whitelisted them, but my site went almost 2 weeks without a crawl. I would imagine that's what was preventing us from rising anywhere in SERPS and in fact we dropped a bit. Damnit...I just saw Googlebot pass by a few hours ago. Oh well.. |

That would be a reason to change hosts in my book. It sounds like they may be trying to oversell the server, and keep everything restricted to the greatest extent possible.

Hi Groovystar, Get a better host! Based on your story, at best these guys are incompetent, or worse, they don't care, or even worse it was deliberate. |

I am happy with my independent host, on a first name basis, and knows IM, etc. Your site is only as good as your host is. Sort of like you are what you eat in reverse. Paul

This looks very familiar!! That sounds absolutely ludicrous. Some host! software can not account for Googlebot, might be time to move on to a different industry. ![]() Time to move on to a new hosting provider or look at setting up your own. |

You just told us that your friend stopped the googlebot. Now you are telling us that you are happy with them. You are confused my friend. Your buddy screwed with your business and put you at risk. Friends don't do that to their buddies. If they can't recognize a googlebot, then they ain't as smart as you think. If you can't figure out that you need to move your business to a better host, then the folks here can't help you. Sorry you can't see the obvious. Good luck to you in your future, you are going to need it.

What are you referring to, another thread? I see nowhere in this thread where Paul told us that his friend stopped the googlebot. If you are referring to another thread then please link to it! If not, then what are you trying to say? That paulg and Groovystar are the same person?

Either way, the bulk of the responses seem to support my conclusion that he needs to move his business to a more friendly host. Are we all wrong?

A similar thing happened to me with my latest 4 websites. I'm a site flipper, and generally my websites, made with fresh contents, appear soon on Google (generally in some hours). I made about 50 of this websites. Now I made in the latest two weeks 3 new sites, that I'm not able to let appear on Google. They have fresh contents, able to pass Copyscape, and they are submitted manually to social bookmarks. They are : Top10HoneymoonDestinations.net FarmvilleChamp.net GraniteCountertopsCost.info What can be happened ? They are all registered on NameCheap. Can be this the problem ? Thanks a lot.
