Default Google and valid markup websites

My website is valid markup by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Is this give benefit me to bring my website top in search engines ?

Your opinions will be greatly appreciated

You should create web sites that are W3C compliant.

There are many benefits to doing this, including the fact that your page tends to load faster. PageSpeed is a factor in rankings, but being W3C valid isn't. Still, create web sites that are valid according to the W3C.

No, it is not. I doubt that it's even a consideration at all given that there are so many top ranking sites that appear to be done in FrontPage 98, Microsoft Word and the like.

Having a site that loads reasonably quickly and isn't terribly obfuscated with random code and widgets helps but you don't have to have a W3C valid site to do that.

It's nice to have a valid code but even Google's own website doesn't validate

Browsers today are not what they were in 1999.
They are very forgiving. I assume search engines are too.
I think it's just bragging rights. But since I code by hand most
of the time, I'm sure I have errors. I know browsers can even
load in stand-alone php pages with no html/body. However, if
your site has many errors, javascript errors, or other things that
make the page look or load bad, obviously the user experience
goes out the window. But how many millions of users are still
using old versions of netscape, IE, etc.? I normally KISS.

Yeah. It's that "loads reasonably quickly" that people just don't believe.
Forgetting all the rest that goes into the google algorithm that is light years
more important.

I don't really worry about a few seconds here or there. I think you can waste a lot of time futzing around trying to save 10ms here and 20ms there. But, you don't want goofy social widgets, advertisements and such to weigh down your site.
