Default How frequently add content to new website?

I got a new website in the weightloss-niche. It's driven by Wordpress. I got ~100 prewritten articles that I'm going to use for the website. But how frequently should I post content in the beginning?
The site is brand new and I've just started on the linkbuilding process.

I've read somewhere that I should only post like every third day in the beginning and then post more and more. What do you think is the best when it comes to SEO?

This subject is a bit of a grey area, lots of different myths floating around. My personal experience is if you start posting 1 article a day and keep it up for 6 months you will do just fine. On the other hand i have had blogs which are only updated once a week for 6 months and do just as well.

I think the key is to be consistent and not leave huge gaps without adding fresh content.

Hope that help

Danny

Adding new content on a regular basis will result in your site being spidered more frequently. I would add new content every day or every other day.

Article Marketing is more effective in high numbers of posts, the more the better. We have clients who posts hundreds of articles for 1 website a month and I highly doubt they would be spending hundreds of dollars with us if it was not working.

I myself post 30-50 articles a week on hundreds of directories and our Alexa rankings improve daily by thousands of spots.

There's no SEO difference between posting the content at the start or dripping it out over time. My preference is to get a considerable amount of content on a new site quickly, then start building links to both the index page and internal pages.

If you think about it, it's quite common for a new site to have a lot of pages early on. For example, if you were putting up a new site for a corporation, would you put up the CEO's bio page, then a week later, the sales department, then a week later, HR? No, you wouldn't. If you started a new ecommerce site would you only list 1 new product a day or would you list all the products you wanted to sell or at least as many as you had content for and could get posted?

That said, there are some social and marketing reasons to slowly drip certain content and those may indirectly affect SEO by attracting unsolicited links from fans.

This is a great point - on the other hand if your website is a blog it is perfectly normal for new content to be added every couple of days and in googles eyes this looks very natural.

Adding too many posts too quickly to a Wordpress blog for example, could do you more harm than good, this is of course my opinion and I don't have any concrete evidence to prove this theory so take it with a pinch of salt!

It doesn't. I develop all sorts of sites, my own and for business and charity clients, using WordPress as the base CMS and it doesn't matter at all. I'll generally load anywhere from 10 to 200 pages of content when a site goes live.

The only reason not to put up the whole 100 articles straight away is that you may not be able to update it again soon. If you can continue to update every couple of days I dont see why you cant just throw up the whole 100 and backlink the crap out of them

It really depends on what you're comfortable with. IT doesn't harm you in any way but I would personally add about 15-20 pages initially so Google knows that the site has some substance and isn't a 5 page micro niche site.

I'd then schedule an article to go out every other day. This way, you have a blog on autopilot. Make sure you have XML Sitemaps plugin installed and it will update the xml sitemap and hopefully get indexed within minutes in Google.

The good thing about this is that if you make any changes to layouts, widgets etc and have articles scheduled, it allows the spiders to keep coming back and index newer versions of your site as opposed to the old version (e.g. if you install a new theme). Also, the assumption here is that the Google will also pick up some kind of pattern as to how often to crawl your site.

Quality and Consistency are the key.

Good luck
Zaheer

2 articles daily is the best meal to your site.

Totally agree. This way, you get the best of both worlds. You start off with a site that is fairly comprehensive, but you keep adding to it frequently so that people have a reason to come back.

Sure, adding all 100 articles at once may not get you punished, but if I come visit your site on day one, and the site doesn't change for another few months, I won't be coming back. After all, I'm assuming that since you just bought 100 articles, you won't be buying any more for awhile.

And when it comes to adding new content, you can do that as frequently as you're comfortable with - every day, every other day, once a week, etc.
