Default Using tabs for SEO purpose

Let's say you have an ecommerce site that lists of many products in grid view (a category page as many people call it). We have many product images but not many text for SEO since we do not want to display too much text on top of the page.

A common way is using a SEO-friendly tabs (css not javascript or flash). You save space and still have lots of text on the top which is good for SEO

Another advanced way if your page height is fixed. In HTML code the tab content is on top but using css to move div position to the bottom of the page assuming you think the tab content is solely for SEO purpose and not much value for customers.

Any thoughts?
