Default Adsense Ads Matching Content..How To Fix

Ok so I just started a new blog and the whole nich is related to dancehall reggae music. I downloaded a free template and it has adsense placements. So I go to my adsense account and choose channels with the main keywords in them.

Now when I upload it to my site 95% of the adsense ads show domains, hosting and other BS...only 1 out of every 3 banners shows related info.

How do I match the adsense ads to the content on my site? Is it more then just choosing the right channels?

Please help

What you name your channels is irrelevant.
Template is irrelevant.
What channels you add are irrelevant.
Channels are irrelevant except for tracking.

It's your content. Over time, as you do more and more
postings, your ads will better reflect your content.
If it's a wordpress, be sure and make urls canonical for
a better search engine find. Non canonical can be indexed,
however. Just not as user friendly.

If you are going for reggae music, put those and similar words
in your title. Make sure your blog has that titled.

I myself would have went for a free blogspot blog. I do both
domain wordpress and blogpsot, and just find blogspot rocks.

There is really nothing you can do except more on topic posts,
and be patient. Eventually your ads will be matched.

thank you...so if it really comes down to content (and all my content is 10000% related) then doing the channels seems like a waste of time.

If you have a bunch of sites, you may want to keep track of your
adsense on each one. That's what channels are for. Tracking.
If you have only one website with adense, then you don't need
channels necessarily.

I assume you will not stop at just one website, so starting channels
is actually a good idea. One channel for each website/niche etc.

Also, realize that google is tweaking ads (I believe) now for each
user if possible. Someone else may see entirely different ads. I just
drove cross country, and it seemed if the ads were geared to my
locale in a lot of instances. Still mostly on target, but had geo-
references. I can only suspect that geo is not the only thing
getting tweaked.

Bottom line, it make take a couple of weeks for google to really start
showing very targeted ads. IMHO, blogs may take longer than a normal
website.

You could also try to use "adsense section targeting" a feature that allows you to tell Google which parts of your content it should take consideration when deciding which ads to show on your page.
