Default What an absolute pain in the you know what!

Ok, so I am starting to get really fed up with building links. It seems that everytime I look for blogs to post to they are almost all no follow! I have used Market Samurai to find links but a lot of them even though the program says they are dofollow are actually nofollow. I have also tried finding sites with limited success and lots of wasted time using:

site:.com inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.org inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.gov inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.com "powered by expressionengine" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.org "powered by expressionengine" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.edu "powered by expressionengine" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.gov "powered by expressionengine" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.com “Powered by BlogEngine.NET” inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.org “Powered by BlogEngine.NET" inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.edu “Powered by BlogEngine.NET” inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"
site:.gov “Powered by BlogEngine.NET” inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD"

Can anyone recommend the best way to find dofollow blogs to post to? Any codes that are better than the above?
Are nofollow links completely useless other than the fact you MIGHT get someone to follow through on your comment link or do they provide you any juice at all?

What have you used with great success to build links and preferably for free?

I write and post many articles to submission directories- do these provide good quality links as they are typically on non ranked pages even in ezine?

Thanks in advance,

Frustrated Warrior

Nofollow doesnt matter... Just build links. I know someone who was at a conference with a bunch of G employees who were joking and laughing that people still pay attention to nofollow...

I commented in tons of blogs, never paid attention to nofollow, I took the time to write something intelligent and guess what? People came to my blog, wrote comments, followed me on Twitter. I received pingbacks, trackbacks and even comments from the blog owners. One even wrote a post about me and my blog. I even met one in person! Who cares if the search engine bot follows or not, as long as you make the humans follow. You guys pay far too much attention to search engine bots. Spend half of that time to pay attention to the humans, you'll see the difference.

Easier than that is to simply submit articles.

How about this - Find a way other than spamming blogs to get traffic. I mean really, that is about as bottom of the barrel as you can get. How low do you have to be before you resort to that?

Since when was manual commenting spamming? Personally I comment on Keywordluv blogs for anchor text dofollow links. I write well thought out and relevant comments, and only on posts to which I feel I can make a meaningful contribution. Does that make me a spammer?!

if you comment on similar blogs, its a great way to get on that webmasters radar and therefore develop a relationship.

Commenting on good relevant sites is a very good strategy, as long as you provide valuable, quality and relevant information to that blog, and to that blog subject.

Eventually you will hit on one or two sites that make the BIG difference!

Thanks everyone- that makes me feel better. And of course I only comment on relevant blogs adding value and not spam.

Yes, actually it does. The ****ONLY*** you are posting is to leech traffic.

Interesting read. I'll try that out but the issue is sometimes I notice many don't even respond to your comments. It also gives spammers a second look on how their spam is affecting them. (Of course not referring to all blog commenters)

I never care about nofollow, if it's nofollow fine, If not I don't really care.

The way I do backlinks is, I use "Google Alerts", then setup a search string with an exact match for the keyword I'm wanting a backlink from.

On Google Alerts put your keywords in quotes "keyword1 keyword2 keyword3", this will tell Google to send all the exact match sites for your keyword, to your email inbox.

This will help build backlinks in a natural looking way. Google Alerts will return a lot of possible places to backlink, I try & pick the sites with the keywords in the title.

Search engines want a natural flow to your links. Not every site you visit will be a do-follow or no-follow. So you will need both to look natural.

Contact the blog owners and offer to make guest post or just offer to write articles to be posted on the blog you like in exchange for a permanent link.

Works like a charm and you can make some friends like that.

Doing this I have made friends with some people who when they start new blogs or new sections on their blogs hit me up for an article in exchange for another link. Some people will allow an in text link and some just give me a blog roll or footer link.

I write the articles myself so I know the quality is above average and will be exactly what the blog owner wants.

I edit and rewrite if they are not happy. I just ask for length of article subject and key word density they want then whip out the article and get an in text link or at least a link on the blog roll etc.

If you suck at writing you can always pay for your articles to be written but I have had terrible luck hiring writers. They all seem to suck hard even the expensive ones. It's all about content spinning, keyword stuffing and crappy quality they can stick you with. In the end I had to just start doing the articles myself.

Every blogger wants content so if you give them what they want you get what you want, permanent relevant do fallow links.

This is really my secret weapon lately as their are no shortage of blogs on almost any subject you can imagine.

If they remove your link then post an article using their real name and call them a few names and explain in the article exactly what they did. After the disparaging article gets indexed send them email and tell them to search Google under their name.

They usually come back throwing fits and threats. At that point you give them the option of putting your link back up, removing the article they got for free from you or going straight to hell.

I keep track of all my article exchange links by using an install of PHP link directory. I place a link to the blog and configure it for link exchange status so it checks for a return link. I just check it every 3 to 6 months to check on the return links so I don't get screwed over. Works very well.
