Ever had to do SEO for a client, but couldn't get them to change their website to meet the on page criteria? Ever wanted to rank for a low competition long tail keyword but couldn't quite be bothered making another landing page with another boring article? Never fear oh lazy comrade, for backlinks are your friend! Don't underestimate the power of a anchor text optimized backlink to rank your site/page, without 100% proper on page optimization. I've achieved rankings for some very good quality keywords with barely any on page optimization, particularly at the local level. It can really be as simple as a few blog comments dropped on the blogs you already read. Give it a shot, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy SEO can be. |

Nice tip - only works if the competition is weak though

Ya know, I've been noticing this as of late too - I used to focus so heavily on making sure the keywords were in the title/heading/copy of the pages I was linking to. On a recent project I basically just said "**** it, let's see what happens" and I was surprised that it worked pretty well - if anything it at least made me feel like I didn't need to be as uber-strict about keyword implementation as I had been. If a keyword battle gets tough though, it will probably help to focus on making sure those keywords are on the page in the important spots if they already aren't

If you're going to try this trick using keywords in blog comments, you should look for niche related blogs with commentluv/keyword luv enabled since this will give you do follow backlinks.
