you can also use robots.txt to do it User-agent: * Disallow: /directory/ Disallow: /deeper/directory/ Disallow: /specific/file.php or the META style... same same here is all you need to know : The Web Robots Pages : robots.txt The Web Robots Pages : robots META tag |

doing both meta tag no-follow no-index and blocking via robots.txt are recommended.
