Default 301 Bit.ly redirects for long URLs or this 2nd option?

Hey Warriors,

I have a simple yet relatively advanced question.

I want to build links for an EzineArticle of mine. Let's say it's this one, but it's not.

htp://ezinearticles.com/?Incorporating-Brown-and-Teal-For-a-Living-Room-That-is-Modern-and-Appealing&id=4792818

Please note that I removed one t from http to prevent it from automatically being turned in to an anchor text.

When I try to put this kind of long link in forum signatures and all, they reject it saying it's too long or the link that I get is broken.

According to what I know, there are 2 options.
  1. To make a 301 redirect with Bit.ly and use it on forums
  2. htp://ezinearticles.com/?&id=4792818 will also redirect me to that same long URL
Now I have heard that if you build links to http://MyDomain.com and http://WWW.MyDomain.com, Google splits the PR and that's not a good thing. You want all your backlinks to focus on to a single domain name.

What should I do here guys? The short EzineArticles URL or Bit.ly? Which one will NOT 'split' my link juice?

Thanks!
Chucky

Thank you Hunter, so it looks like I have no option but to use my long ugly URL. A few 301 redirects shouldn't hurt, but obviously they cannot be the sole form of backlinking.

Canonicals are out because I don't own EzineArticles

Thanks a bunch!
