Getting Squidoo lens indexed and seen?

I know web 2.0 sites are very helpful when it comes to link building and traffic generation. I have use some of them in the past. But, I never worked on squidoo, hubpages and InfoBarrel. In the past few weeks I started making few lenses on squidoo. However, seems like the normal methods(pinging, bookmarking,...) that I use to get my blog posts indexed, don't help.

How do you guys get your squidoo lenses indexed and out there? Does it take more time and maybe more pinging and backlinking to get the lenses out there?
I would appreciate any suggestion, advice regarding squidoo lens promotion, indexing and etc and also the same with InfoBarrel and hubpages.

Use squidutils. Submit the lens to all the lens directories listed in the squidutils.
Do the proper SEO, titles, tagging, image names, image captions, etc. Use the low competition long tail keywords too.

and network with other lensmasters, lensroll other peoples lenses, join the big squidoo family (the lens group for newbie lensmasters) if you are nice and have a nice lens they feature your lens.]

I made a couple of craft related lenses and they rank on google page 1 or top 10 results for every keyword related to that niche. I checked at leasta dozen keywords and they were ranked for every last one of them. Proper on page SEO pays off.
I didn't directly make money from squidoo but I made sales through my online shop linked from the lenses, shop got a bunch of traffic (and sales) through the lenses.

That anmd keep adding fresh new content, videos, reviews, multimedia etc to the lens and ping it frequently. Fresh content gets ranked too.

I think making money from Web 2.0 is a lot harder than some make it seem.
