Default Do you Leave Anchor Text Backlink when Blog commenting.......

In the last day or two I have recontinued something I used to do on a regular basis and that is Blog commenting. I will go to Google and put in my Nich topic and look for Blogs to read and comment on that are related to my Niche. I do this for backlinking purposes but also to get ideas from other people. I always read the Blog Post thoroughly and make sensible and well thought out comments based on what is written in the Post and that the Author will appreciate. But lately in the 'Name' section I have been putting just my first name and NOT my anchor text.

I know I still get credit for the backlink but maybe not optimizing the Backlink since I dont use Anchor text. But I just want to be more professional and more personal and not piss the Webmaster off with anchor text.

How about some of you, do you use anchor text or your name when blog commenting ?? What do you think ? Is it impersonal and condescending to use anchor text and not your name ??

Plus, it seems you run the risk of getting it deleted by Webmaster if using anchor text, IMO !!

In my niches I focus more on leaving the kind of comment that the blog owner would appreciate.

In niches a lot of folks create sites just for fun. So if you take the time to post a comment on their site they really appreciate it.

In general I try and add a comment that is thoughtful and relates to their blog post and is not something considered spammy – like Hey, Loved your blog post check out my site at spammy.com. Remember
you need to make sure your comment is approved to get the link.

Should you use anchor text? I think with google it gives that link a little bit extra link juice. Which is not a bad thing right?

Ditto for me. Like i said in my original Post I really like to check out my competitions Sites and leave very thought provoking comments related to this Post that I know the Webmaster of that Site really appreciates. That is paramount and I thought I was pretty clear about that in my Original Post !!

Sorry my friend. This whole blog commenting thing is a subject I feel strongly about, consequently I committed a forum marketing 'schoolboy error' and didn't read the whole of your post before hastily commenting.

I usually just check out the other comments (if there are ones) and see if they used anchor text. If they did then you know the blog owner does not mind. If not, then it's best to use your name.

Or, you could specifically look for ones that use the keywordluv plugin if you want to use your keywords in the anchor text.

Same as Cashcow, I usually check to see if the blog owner is allowing keywords in the anchor text to make sure it's cool with them, otherwise use my name. Always make meaningful relevant comments on the post topic.

Well, they aren't all nofollow so if you take your time you can ferret out the ones that have dofollow and focus mostly on those.

I believe it is good to comment on both but try to focus 80% on dofollow.

Of course, you want to leave a good relevant comment to maximize your chances of acceptance (and maybe even get some traffic too!).

Cashcow or anyone for that matter I know I used to know this and I should know it by heart, but how again do you check to see if it is No-Follow or Do Follow ??

Thanks,
Robert

To echo what others have already said, ALWAYS leave a meaningful/helpful comment. Then you should be ok leaving an anchor text backlink in place of your name.

Also, no-follow backlinks still give you link juice.

To your success,
Matt

Most webmasters do not approve your comment when they can see or notice your anchor text. I mostly approve comments with the name of the person that post it on my blogs, because I know the reason why anybody will want to use anchor text.

i have found that a long comment can have a link without any issues no matter the case. As long as you provide value to the blogger they wont mind or wont even notice.

Anchor text with a good, relevant comment.

If you leave anchor text with relevant information you have an ok chance of your comment being approved. I don't think its worth that much though is you dont have the anchor text there. And it doesn't really matter that much if its a no-follow. Google still follows it, and since yahoo is no more, bing comes in second with a decent piece of the search engine traffic, so don't forget about them.

I am really surprised to see so many people are talking about positive thoughtful comments. I see spam on a lot of my blogs. I delete it immediately. You want to know what's really funny? The higher is the PageRank, more spam I get.

anchor text is very important.
But if you just post thank , nice comment and use anchor text it's sure your comment will not be approved.
SO use anchor text but also don't spam , post comments that adds value to the blog.

Like many others, I check to see what other comments have used. If I see the blog owner allows blog comments with anchor text as the name, then I use that. If not, then I use my first name. I only comment on blogs, of course, that allow me to leave my site's URL somewhere, even if it only links to my site through my first name. And I always leave thoughtful, relevant comments either way. I delete spam comments on my own sites, so I don't leave spam comments on the sites of other people.
