Hi Warriors,
Has the location of hosting company any effect on my ranking?
I started a couple weeks ago as a newbie.I tried to use good SEO strategies and get my small sites ranked as high as possible and (as fast as possible). I just targeted 4 not very competitive keywords with good traffic 2000-5500 exact. (Google US)
Problem that I have is that I saw clearly that I was able to get ranked on Google Canada first page but no matter what I did / do Google US keeps me on page 2.
Info: My hosting is Canadian and I use .com not .ca to rank and competitors are very similar on Google .Ca and Google US
I know that a .ca domain has priority for local Google (ca) but I am not using it I use .com domain!
Please advice if I missed something? I have never read anything in SEO guides about location or nationality of hosting company!

I never heard or read about this. I don't think that the location of your hosting should have any effect on your rankings.

Yeah , Hosting location also have effect in SEO.
Try changing your host and move to US hosting.
And also getting links from Local US websites like blogs related to US might also help in your Ranking goal.

Do you have any relevant U.S. information on your website? i.e. mailing address, #800 number, a statement saying, "We ship to the U.S"? If not, maybe Google.com doesn't think your site has enough U.S. relevance to show it on the 1st page in the serps. It shouldn't have anything to do with hosting unless you are in a bad hosting neighbourhood.

You could do a search for 'Google Webmasters' on Google and get a 'Google Analytics' account. You can then submit your site to Google and geo target it for the US.

I am from Canada as well. I host all my websites through Homestead. I believe they have a server in Canada, as I had the same issue as you with my highest producing website, Organic Soap Nuts Laundry Detergent - Retail Wholesale and Bulk Supplier . In time, and with link building, the US rankings caught up to the Canadian ones. Now, we are #1 and #2 in Google for pretty much every set of keywords we want to in our niche. Just give it time and effort, and you will get the same results.

Moving your website to a web-host with servers in your target area will give you a ranking boost there... specially if you're using a local TLD domain

Previously it's just rumour but the word is out on Apr 2010, your site's response speed do affect how you rank.

Get a hosting base in US if you're targetting US.
