Using Clickbank..do I need to cloak my hop link?

I am just starting out using clickbank to promote a product and I read something about protecting myself by hiding my hoplink or something to that effect.

Is it not wise to just use the hoplink they give you to refer in clickbank and put it into a url for a picture?

You don't have to cloak it, but I'm sure your conversion rate will be 10x higher if you do.

No one wants to click on a long/ugly link.

What I do if I have my own domain is have a re-direct code either on my home page or another page that has the products name in it.

Example:

You're promoting the "Truth About Abs" product on ClickBank and you have a site named "www.superawesomeweightlossguide.com". Instead of linking your visitors to an ugly hop link, you can make a page "www.superawesomeweightlossguide.com/truthaboutabs.html" that will redirect your visitor to the official site with your affiliate link.

Here's the code

<meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=CB LINK HERE">

open up Notepad, paste that code with your link then save as "pagename".html

example - truthaboutabs.html

Or just go to tinyurl.com

If you are using Wordpress you can install a plugin called GoCodes which is really good for cloaking links.

nope, hoplinks are encrypted. You don need too look out for 'sale page leaks'. These are technique used by malifide vendors to overwrite your cookie and causes you to loose commise (opt-in form, iframe, etc)

You should cloak it in order to increase conversion. The hoplink is pretty long and "ugly".

You can use URL Shortner services like Bit.ly or Worpdress plugins like GoCodes or Pretty Link.

So I used a picture with the affiliate on it...and linked the picture to the hop link...would this be considered cloaking the link?
