Default Copied Clickbank sales page, getting "Poor" Landing Page QS..??

I set up a website for a particular, narrow niche. The site has 6-7 pages of very high-quality, original content, Privacy Policy, Contact page, and About page.

I added an additional page as a landing page for a PPC campaign. The landing page is copied from a Clickbank product landing page - it's a pretty good sales letter, over 1000 words, slightly re-arranged, totally relevant content.

The campaign is very narrow: single keyword adgroup, tight relevancy between keyword, domain name, and landing page.

Landing Page and Keyword Relevance show green - good. Yet I'm getting Poor (1/10) for Landing Page Quality, so the ads aren't triggering.

Anyone have any similar experience, or suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

bfas

A friend tried the exact same thing. The result : he got his adwrods account banned for good. Any accounts registered to his name from now on will be banned as well. Be very carefull with this. He only did like a couple of days of targeting these poor sites with adwords prior to that he had YEARS of targeting quality and they sent him 1 notification ( which he unfortunately didnt see ) and that was it.

Good thin it didnt mess up his adsense account as well, that would be just awful.

I don't know why that would get an Adwords account banned. Providing you're following the TOS, and there's nothing inherently against TOS there.

Hi bfas,

When your Quality Score drops to Poor (1/10), that is the off switch which is generally only used when you landing page is not in compliance with AdWords policies. You need to figure out exactly what policies you are in violation of and correct them immediately. And yes you should consider your account to be in jeopardy if you do not correct this issue ASAP.

Based on your post, I would first look to see if you have what Google would classify as a bridge page. This is a common issue for affiliate marketers, you can't have a sales page that leads to yet another sales page. Google used to tolerate that, but no longer do.

Another issue it could be is an offer that may be considered potentially deceptive, or of dubious nature. Again, this is not based on what you think of the offer but what Google thinks of it. There are many products that Google does not want to be associated with. Check to see if other marketers are having issues with similar products on AdWords.

Thanks Don,

I think you've probably hit it. The LP isn't a 'bridge' page. I didn't have a 'disclosure' link which I've now added, and as per suggestions from Pete, have removed verbiage such as "...immediately!" and "...guaranteed!".

I changed the ads a bit to reset the QS calculation, but it's still showing as Poor 1/10 - I assume it hasn't been re-calculated yet.

If it does change, I'll have isolated the problem(s).

Thanks again,

bfas

Buddy i dropped another PM, but i am sorry but my gut tells me the page will never float above Q one regardless of what you ad or take from it, your problem is the topic, it will never get past the security gates at G HQ.

There is nothing wrong with your site other than that, i like your topic it's just some sites G ads wont allow.

I have my own similar site that i cant run on G adwords so for that i just focus on other traffic methods, and you will need to do the same with this one.

PM it to Don and get a second view and see what he says for you, I may be wrong.

Just curious,

If you are gonna PPC why not just forward the link to the landing page instead of using your doorway page?

Hi BigDaddys101,

You can do that, however AdWords will only serve one ad at a time for the same offer. Most affiliate offers will have many different affiliate marketers competing for that single slot which means that your ad may receive little, or no impressions.

You often need your own landing page, on a different domain, if you want to compete effectively. What you can do is send your users to the affiliate's checkout page rather than their offer page, when they click on your call to action. Or, you can provide your own product and then follow up with add-on or an email campaign for your affiliate's offer.
