Default This looks almost impossible

Hey everybody, from my research I have come to the conclusion that pr is result of many things but the greatest one is backlinks and it seemed true until i came accross this site.

tiffanyukdotnet (replace dot with ".") this website has 7,69.870 indexed backlinks but has a pr of 0. How it can be.

Mabey the links are not all keyword targetted, in the sense that the anchor texts of the links pointing to the site are all random and non related to the site, But it would have to be checked thoroughly.

Site Explorer - Search Results

That's because most of them are spam.

I think the idea that PR rank is largely the result of number of backlinks is fanciful, as evidenced by this example. This site was first registered in March 2010 and therefore Google will surely view such large number of backlinks gained over such short period of time as unnatural and an attempt to game the system.

I would frankly be shocked if the PR of such site was anything but 0.

my site had a TBPR (toolbar PR) of 4 last month, this month its zero but i still maintain all my search positions - the TBPR shouldnt be confused with PageRank, TBPR is just a green bar in a tool bar and not a reflection of the sites true pagerank.

Regards, Mark

Hi Anoopchawla,

The fact is that not all links are equal in value and some backlinks have no value at all. Comment links typically include the "nofollow" attribute, which passes no link juice. Additionally, backlinks from sites that allow unmoderated user content will often be designated by Google as spam sites and all links from such sites are completely devalued, again passing no link juice whatsoever.
