Article directories losing their effectiveness(seo purposes)?

If they're not "nofollow" then yes, they do pass link juice.

I don't think it's a particularly effective SEO strategy in the majority of cases to strictly rule out the acquiring of backlinks through any other method other than article submission. Why limit yourself like that?

I still do article submissions, and find it to be effective, but I use it in conjuction with other backlink building methods, too.

What i notice these days is that you require significantly more volume of articles, consistently and properly syndicated too, to make much impact.

Of course, a combination of marketing techniques applied simultaneously and consistently is always advised, to achieve desired objective.

Almost everybody's favourite article directory is EzineArticles.

One can also mention others such as ArticleDashboard, GoArticles, IdeaMarketers, ArticlesBase, ArticleAlley

Every page on any website without nofollow tag, can juice pagerank and value of the current page to external links of that page. And i think some article directories and Ezine articles, article dashboard and some other, are powerful enough and submitting articles on them can help your website to get a better position on search engines.

I successfully ranked sites only with Articles. Whay would they lose their effectiveness? Good content is good content.
