Default My first Google Slap! Woohoo!

Hey everyone,

So today's a day to celebrate... sort of.

I had my first Google slap!

Not a suspension, but they just decided all of my LPs stink so they're at a QS of 1/10.

Anyways, I just wanted to share because it makes me feel like a real marketer now.

Even though I've been doing this for about a year, just in the last week I started to make decent money, about a hundie a day- then this happens

But I'm cool, I'll just keep at it with the big G until I get better with PPV, social, and SEO.

So feel free to congratulate me on my Google slap- I'm proud of it :-)

Were you doing affiliate marketing or your own product? If affiliate, was it a bridge page to the vendor site?

Congrats! Though, getting slapped can be avoided by simply educating yourself and "following the rules"...

Whatever turns you on!

But that's not a google slap. That's a google grade. They do
give make ups tests, however. Just study for the next one.

Tip: Start over from scratch. With a score that low, the page's
url might be "tainted" for a long time.

Yeah, if you're into getting slapped just the moment you start making money - then SEO is for you!

Congrats of the successes you had before this happened though *g*

If a guy is getting G slapped, then SEO isn't the issue...

Maybe a little BH on the side?

You like that huh? What if your server crashed and you had no backup - party time!

Yes, you are correct- it is helpful to take these set-backs in stride.

HeDir.com ranks #1 or #2 for "human edited directory"

DebtPlan.org ranks #3 for "debt consolidation california"

You are not a cool marketer by openly rejoicing in breaking a companies terms, please feel free to post your feelings when your account is suspended for life as well.

2) How do I recover from a Google Slap?

Google Slap 1
: The content on your page was not related to the keyword that you were bidding on. This is a huge no no which will hurt your Quality Score and you will most likely get slapped by Google.

Solution: Make sure that the content on your landing page matches the keywords you are bidding on.

Google Slap 2: The landing page is a squeeze page and does not link to other web pages.

Solution: In the footer, have at least a couple of links to other sites (on the same domain or other domains). Google frowns upon pure squeeze pages and will slap you if that is what you do.

Google Slap 3: The landing page is full of beautiful graphics but not enough text.

Solution: The Google bot cannot read text that is part of an image file so make sure that all of your copy is in text form.

Google Slap 4: The Ad Groups are not targeted. In other words, you have Ad Groups with many different keywords.

Solution: Break up your Ad Groups into highly targeted Ad Groups

Wow I'm kinda surprised as to all the different responses I received....

So here's my problem now:

I can't get a new campaign running :-/

I've tried switching it to a different domain, changing the text on the landing page quite a bit (rewrote it from about 250 words on it to about 350 words, with about 2% KW density), and creating a new campaign for it.

But now before my new camp's ads are even reviewed, for each KW it says it won't be shown due to low QS.

Plus even before the slap I had a Contact Us, Privacy Policy, and Terms & Conditions link on the bottom, so I definitely was trying and not blatantly trying to screw G over or anything.

It's not a squeeze page or anything, but its very product-targetted. It's a simple lander with 2 affiliate links, but no other links going off the page (besides the Contact, TOS and Privacy)

Any ideas? Could it be based on my IP, or even the whole Adwords account?
