Default Snagging the First and Second Spot

Hey! I have a question -- my competition for a particular keyword (one site taking two spots) won't budge. I am starting to get frustrated. The hub and the lens are mine. They are quite new, around a month, and it got me thinking, is it really that hard for new pages to snag the first and second spots? Can anyone help? Thanks!

I attached the screenshot. It seems like forum newbs can't add pictures.

You're seriously saying you are frustrated after only one month? SEO isn't a quick fix usually. It will take time to outrank the top spot.

Actually, I've been trying to figure it out. And that frustrates me. I also have pages that are in the same situation -- around ten months.

So does that mean I would just have to let the pages simmer?
