Of course SEO will stay as long as "Search Engines" will be used by people. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

We don't have to worry about SEO. There may be some changes in the near future (talking about the effect of Google Instant) but it will be an important part of IM for ever.

There will never be the end all, be all SEO plan as far as Google is
concerned. Their job is to keep us all guessing so that we either
offer great content or just keep playing the guessing game.

Ryan,

I think that's true to an extent...but building a quality site takes time. Why should I have to wait for Google to catch up to my content?

Links for SERPS benefit and direct traffic etc will always have a place.
