Default Is there any difference between domain extensions?

Hello there,

what I want to ask you guys is is there any difference between e.g. .com domain and .info domain (I mean SEO)? And if not, why are .com domains like 5 times more expensive than .info domains?

Do a search for something in Google and take a look at home many .info domains there are in the results.

And the otehr aspect is pure human psychology. Seeing a .com evokes a particular response in searchers. There is an implied authenticity to a .com domain.

From my SPKB WSO:

Quote:
I go for top level domain (TLD) extensions. TLD extensions are com, net, and org. I always try to get the com. There's lots of debate about whether or not TLD is worth it. I'm not here to tell you whether it is or isn't, but think about your own reaction when you see a com versus an info or biz. Searchers unconsciously attribute more credibility to a .com site.

Org domains imply an organization and are more likely to appeal to Information searches than Action. They are, however, good for lead generation. Say you registered a site called ConsumerCreditCardAgency.org which you then populated with credit card reviews, credit management articles, and links to click through an apply. In this case, both the domain name and the org would inspire trust. Maybe a bit underhanded, but it can be effective.

If my main intent with the site is to make money through ad-share (Adsense) then com or org are the best choices from a human engineering perspective. If I'm looking to build a product site for driving sales through affiliate links, then I prefer com or net. Although net doesn't carry the weight of a com, it's still a top level domain that people are used to seeing.

If you can't get the com, net, or org, you could go for a different extension, like info, biz, or us. Some marketers claim the extension doesn't matter, others claim it does. I don't know whether it does or not, but I only use com, net, or org for the reasons discussed above.

I make $2,000 - $3,000 a month and YOU CAN TOO

Did you know that this "Groundhog Day" topic is discussed almost on a daily basis here?

I primarily stay with .com .org and .net. I don't know if it makes a difference but it seems .org and .com give me the best results.

If you do a search and look for .info you won't be getting very accurate results. The .net .org and .com are by far the most popular and widely bought and used TLD's so of course they will be coming up more often than .biz and .info. I do believe as long as you seo properly you can get .info and .biz to come up but if you have the option I would go with .net .org or .com first.

I agree with the human psychology. If you are going primarily after search engine organic traffic it doesn't matter too much. But if you are advertising your site or want people to remember a site name .com is always the best.
