Hi everyone, I did some basic on-site SEO and the site started to climb. Then I got the 750 backlinks and then I was immediately in 1st and 2nd position out of 124,000 results. Then the site disappeared completely. The three optimized pages are gone. One non-backlinked page on the same site is no.3 for an important keyword. Should I pay a virtual assistant to delete those links and then ping them so Google updates their records? What else can or should I do? Thanks for your help. BigG |

How long ago did your site disappear? Is it a new site? (Sounds like the Google Dance, hence the questions)

Thanks for the reply Tristan... It disappeared about two-three weeks ago. First the rankings were horrible (page 5-6) then it vanished altogether. The site has been online since 2008. Can the new algorithms be blamed? BigG |

While somewhat helpful, profile back-links are not quality links. Do some guest posting, some article submissions, and even video submissions, and that should help. |

| If you still show up for the site: operator, it's possibly just due to algorithm changes. Try what Adriana suggests and try getting other backlinks from different sources.

I think that is another example when you backlink too fast, then walk away from it. There may have 'appeared' to be interest from Google because of the flood of back links, so you rank higher. Then it stops and Google says, oops, sorry, nothing to see here, move along, and your ranking goes away. I could be wrong, but that has happened to me in the past too. Live and learn.

Yup, happened to me too. I did nothing about for about 2 weeks, then I changed some of the text on my frontpage and after a few days it was back. The changing of text may very well be a coincidence though.

Make sure you keep building backlinks so that the previous backlink creation looks like part of an ungoing process that is naturally unfolding.

I don't think you should remove all backlinks you created. What I recommend you to do is to copy the contents of the top ten from Google SERPs. Then find out theme words that the niche content expert used in those articles. After you find amounts of theme words (groups of words used by expert in the niche) used in those article. Come back to your content, rewrite or edit your content by inserting those theme words into it. Bear in mind that you have to well theme your content or you lose credit and your content is not unique and value to readers. You do not need to believe me on this before hand, but just test it and see whether the method makes any difference! But I tell you that it makes difference to many people already! To your success! | |

| OP were you able to verify the backlinks location? are yousure that a bunch of them did not go blip in the night? May just be a reshuffle but its a good time to check. very often in these packages people will do a xrummer run and spam like crazy and within a few weeks the forum or profile webmasters remove the link or profile. Worse they report you for spam.

You have experienced something which Google describes as "Search Diversity". You built links to your site (low quality spammy ones) so Google found you. It then threw you up to top of list for a short while to keep their first pages diverse with fresh information. Then after that they threw you down back to where you should be. Profile links typically have no unique content on them and leave an obvious footprint so do not carry the most clout. Try building some quality links with your keywords in anchor text from established sites and watch your rank increase. |

As most people are stating you should get some backlinks from other trusted sources. I also recommend getting some backlinks from some .edu and .gov sites. Those work amazingly well for me.
