So I just bought a blog with 600 articles on it. I'm revamping it to monetize it and I thought this might be a good time to hire an SEO guy to work on the site and really get me some big organic traffic. So how much should I be paying someone? I got a guy who says he will work for $250 a week. He also said he'll work for 6 hours a day, which I find hard to believe. He's also only worked on his own sites, not anyone else's so no real references. So my question is... a) would you write this guy off completely or world you hire him? b) what questions should I be asking him? c) is $250/week a good price for SEO? d) do I need to set hard goals for him to hit in order to pay him? |

I would pay a flat rate for a single page out of the 600 (not index page), If he can rank that page, hire him. $250 is very low, maybe he is offshore? |

Hi JBrett As always, knowledge is power. My suggestion would be to learn the basics of SEO first (I have developed a free course which you can download - see below) so that you can assess the value of anyone that you employ. If you understand what needs to be done, you can shop around (see the Warriors For Hire section on this forum) and get the best value for your money. Knowing nothing about the topic and paying someone blindly is going to be risky, so get to know a little first and make sure that you don't get ripped off. |

You need to know what he is actually going to do for those 6 hours a day (ahem). 1.Ask him what SEO methods he will be applying. 2.There has to be an end goal for him to acheive - Page 1 Google for certain search strings perhaps. 3.SEO methods don't work instantly. So you could be paying him $250 per week for a long time before you know that his methods are/aren't working. |

Hi there! It really depends on SEO's strategy plan. There should be specific tasks (which should equivalent to projected results). You should be aware of his methods (black, white or whatever) for you to know if it will not hurt your site. Remember, no SEO company can guarantee results - they can give you estimates but not guarantees.. And for the price, it all depends. There are some $250/week, and some $250/month - you just have to choose wisely. And yes, knowing something about SEO yourself would be a good start. Hope this helps! |

Check things out. Do a little a research before spending money. If you can't do that, spend $250 on a fellow warrior to check it out for you. They'd even toss in a few details to get the ball rolling. I think this guy will do nothing except go around getting a bunch of low level links. That's the normal work-6-hours-a-day scenario/scam. A fellow warrior would take your $250 and spin it into something worthwhile. One time fee. Do the math. How much do you need to take in to justify $250/week? Paul |

I would definitely take a look in the WSO (Warrior Special Offer) section here before paying $250/week on SEO. I recently hired a Warrior to work on SEO for my site and it cost $199 for 2-3 months of work. I'm also planning on spending another $40 for a Warrior to do some backlink building. Some people will say $250/week is a lot, others will say it is a small amount. I think it depends entirely on the type of SEO being done and what the company/person is guarantying for their services. |

I would recommend using forums like the warrior forums and learning as much as you can about search engine optimization. Then do your own SEO, save the money and learn a skill. Then use the money for something else related to the site. Just my 2 cents. |

Its better to get some basic knowledge before you spend money for it. A SEO consultant can charge you different amount of money for his service depends on what kind of strategy he is gonna apply . Also depends on the main keyword of your site and which market you are targeting . And you should have the knowledge to identify if his strategy is "White Hat" or "Black Hat" . Just making huge number of low level backlinks everyday isn't gonna help you. The guy who is asking $250 week , ask him about his strategies and then do a little research on that and get some knowledge about its value . Then you will find it by yourself , should you pay $250 for a week job or not . Quote:

Ok, I did ask him about this strategies... 1. I showed him my keywords from Adwords that are successful or another site in the same niche, he said he could rank me #1 for a few of some important ones 2. He is going to change my theme to a more SEO friendly WP theme 3. He is going to re-write/edit and post 600 articles 4. He is going to ping, generate traffic for, and backlink the articles My biggest concern so far is just that $250 a week is too much... my friend pays someone $100 a week, someone even offered $250 a MONTH in this thread. |

For the project at hand...$250 a week is a deal. But always remember, you get what you pay for.

I can't PM back or post links here . Feel free to shoot me an email through my site below and I'll give you the links to the WSOs. Or just go into my profile here and check the posts I've made. The $199 quote one is in there. Before you go and start paying $250/week I'd look to make sure you need that much work and to start small. Anyway, feel free to shoot me an email through my site and I can email you when I get my first week reports. |
