As you have probably noticed the keyword tool is lately showing much more accurate results (the numbers are way lower than they used to be). Let's share experience, how accurate do you consider the KW tool to be. My example: I'm on position #1 with a KW, showing 3600 exact searches per month in the KW tool. But Analytics is showing me 5000 unique visits per month for the keyword (I'm #5 or lower in Yahoo/Bing, so most are coming from google). As the #1 position gets a bit more than half of the clicks of the total searches, I might say, that Google KW tool is telling me 3 times smaller number for the monthly searches. What's your experience? |

I honestly have no idea how accurate the KW tool is....I am not getting the traffic I want even though I am #1 for a keyword that gets 40+ exact keyword searches a day.

What's the difference between the 2 links to the keyword tool in the SERP on Google, when I do a search in google for 'Google keyword tool'? Is there the external keyword tool and another one that looks the same? I always get 2 links showing on the first 2 results of the SERPs when I do a search for GKWT. How do you guys access the keyword tool to get into it for use? Do these 2 links point to the same version of the GKWT? https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal https://adwords.google.co.uk/o/.../Explorer?__u...c...KEYWORD.. What's search based keyword tool best for? I read the description, tried it out a few time, its not very clear.. What do you all find it useful for? Also, what are correct 2 links to the legacy keyword tool, and the new keyword tool? |

You are absolutely right Google does not shows exact results. If Google shows exact result then every one came to know the criteria how to get High PR so Google never show accurate results.

There could be several issues leading to this. 1. You could be getting residual traffic from related keywords 2. If you have a Google Webmaster Tool account for your site you can see actual search impressions for the keyword in question instead of using the Google keyword tools estimated data. |

Google keyword tool just gives the estimates. It is not accurate. But it is one of the best tools available. If you are ranking #1 for a keyword always doesn't give lot of traffic. It depends on so many other things. |
